MaltOMeal (642), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Sep 9, 2008 Updated: Oct 24, 2008bottle thanks to Papsoe. Shared at September Houston Tasting. Pours dark with an off-white head. Nose is of oak and fruit. Taste is of caramel, vanilla and dark fruit. Very tasty! Mouthfeel is medium and sweet, but you don’t notice the alcohol. Very smooth. Not as complex as regular Pannepot or Pannepot Reserva TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 8, 2008 Bottle shared by oldstylecubsfan. Thanks Todd for breaking this out at my request! Nose is dark and ruby colored with a light off-white head. Nose is rather yeasty with a bit of dark fruits and toffee. Flavor is pretty good and similar to aroma, but lacks the complexity of the original pannapot. This was a good beer, no doubt, but I was less than impressed. thomat (666), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 7, 2008 Dark, redish brown with a medium tan head. Lots of fruit and malt tones. Oakiness, wine, malt combined with high carbonation. Mediumto full body with a long dry finish. radiomgb (1920), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 4, 2008 Dark brown in colour with a thin beige coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is malty, light alcohol, maple, plums, dark fruits, lightly sweet. The flavour is of oak, some maple sweetness, quite malty, plums, raisins, figs, toffee. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes lingering, malty and sweet.
Very good stuff, good balance, very well hidden alcohol. I just purchased a case of this beer, wise investment. This should age very well over the next couple of years.
330ml bottle obtained in a trade with henrikb, thanks Henrik.

ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 4, 2008 Rating # 4900. Cloudy deep reddish colour with a small beige head. Caramel and dark fruit sweet aroma with spicy notes and hints of wood. Sweet malty flavor with dried dark fruit notes and hints of wood and spices. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Aug 30, 2008 33cl bottle. Pours brown with reddish highlights, thin, fizzy, tan head, no lace. Smells of slightly sweet wood and some malt with a good dose of alcohol as well. Tastes woody and malty sweet with lots of lightly bitter wood flavors lingering. Definitely a sippin’ brew. THe sweetness of the malts really pops through the middle but the wood is what lingers. Full body, good carbonation. Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Aug 30, 2008 330 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a beige head. Aroma is sweet malty, caramel, brown sugar, dry fruit, spices with a hint of vanilla and smoke. Flavor lives up to the expectations of the aroma. Sweet malty, caramel, mild smoke, vanilla, dry fruit, syrup, liquorices and a tiny hint of acidulous that just suits this beer perfect. A classic. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Aug 28, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Poured muddy red-brown with an average foamy beige head - not much the laces (harumph). Lovely, lovely aroma - complex spice and tart fruity malt, mild astringent oak resin and yeast - alcohol not all that noticeable; very, very promising (8+). The taste - initially I am a bit put off, the dry astringent woodiness is almost too forward, and there’s an odd lactic sourness too, but still the spice/raisin/yeast maltiness is complex and rewarding, so great marks from me! Thick, somewhat squeaky mouthfeel, a tad still (after all that time in-barrel I understand), with a dry tart malty finish. Overall, very smooth, and while the oak is quite mild in the taste, I expect it to mellow further with another year or so of cellaring - very very good, and worth a revisit down the road.
