Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ĝlbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ĝlbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Bottled at 1st Borefts Beer Festival, Bodegraven. Pretty rare, and usually pretty expensive, but luckily readily available at the festival. For description see other Pannepots. This Grand Reserva has obvious additional complexity, more wood, fruity notes, and sensation of liquor. Better than the regular Reserva, but all of the Pannepots are fantastic.

Bottled at Borefts Bier Festival. Deep reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of wood, dark fruits, light spice, yeast. Flavour is very sweet, malty, sugary, light sour, dark fruits, sweet finish. Fullbodied. Too sweet for me, this was a bit of a disappointment since I really liked the other Pannepot editions. Will try to rerate again soon.

Pours a dark murky brown in color with a good sized two fingers of tan head. The nose is bready with a little spice, some sweet raisins, and some slightly tart cherry. The taste follows this well with the breadiness mixing with the raisin and dark fruit sweetness up front, a small amount of the slightly tart cherry and apple comes in mid taste and blends well with some spices and a good woody flavor. Mouthfeel is medium in body, decent spiciness mid taste to the finish cuts through the maltiness and leads into a good dryness, a small amount of alcohol warmth at the back of the throat in the finish. Very nice beer, the wood aging has worked well with the flavors.

33 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 2005 Vintage.

App.: Very, very deep ruby-black with a fairly large, light tan froth. Aroma: Some nice, rich deep malts, quite fruity, also quite bright, some minty herbals, a fair bit of orange peel and citrus, brown sugar and molasses, a touch of licorice, kinda spicy, maybe some wood-related notes, but could be power of suggestion, a little alcohol. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly low effervescence. Flav.: Lots of molasses, brown sugar, licorice, tangy fruits, citrus peel, a little alcohol, some vague wood notes; fairly sweet mixed with a definite sour note and a little bitterness, finishes with nice deep malts a bit of warming alcohol.

This is quite enjoyable, but the organic acid brightness takes away from the experience.

This 2005 Pannepot Vintage in 750 mil bottle (t.h.t. 30/11/2013) poured a small yellow ocher head on a redish brown fluid. It was slight sour with even slighter sweet, perhaps from the tartaric acid of the winecasks it was kept in. It had no bitter taste. Only some bitter in the mouth feel. Fruity tones like elderberry and a mere idea of spices. White wine characteristics make this a very winy (bubbly wine like) beer. Great!
