Bubbly, light brown head resting on top of a murky, brown-orange body. Smell of dried fruits with the underlying vapour of alcohol. Tart grapes, plums and apples in a well-balanced flavour profile. Bitter ending with warming alcohol beneath. Quite smooth in the mouth. Medium to full bodied. Enjoyable, though a little bit too vinous (Tromsø, 06.04.2009). thebeertourist (2822), Oslo, Norway

State of the art. after4ever (2806), Brier, Washington, USA

Fruity and tart in a very pleasant way. Creamy medium body. Tart red appley with a little bit of brown apple. Mild tart finish. Not as interesting as the base beer, but very good. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Cloudy dark brown pour with golden highlights. Towering rocky head. Delicious array of aromas beginning with fudgey chocolate and toffee followed by nuances of burnt sugar and spice and fig paste and very subtle oak. Rich malts smooth as silk deliver all of the above on the palate. The finish is uplifted beautifully by an almost tangy subtle funk-acidity suggestive of brettanomyces. There is no suggestion of alcohol heat in mine at all. This is the smoothest and richest 10% ABV beer I have ever had and it is also among the most enjoyable in its approachable complexity. Truly outstanding! riversideAK (2764), Shoreline, Washington, USA

The aroma is full of dark fruits, fruit cake, a touch of tartness from the oak. Dark brown pour with a light head. The flavor is initially a little tart and oaky, followed is fruit cake, dark sweet malts, a touch more oak, and some boozey warmth in the finish. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia

Warm but muddy mahogany/orange brown with oily lacing. Slightly metallic aromas with certain barrel notes including some bourbon. Some fizziness in palate. Mincemeat flavors but also sour cherry. Slight tang. Personally I prefer the regular Pannepot.
Re-rate bottle from daknole. Burgundy, tan head, opaque. Yeasty aroma with prunes, dark fruit, sugary. Metallic, sweet, spicy, nice. No change to rating. IrishBoy (2719), Bakersfield, California, USA
