Pours a clear brown with minimal light tan head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is port wine, spice and alcohol. Taste is complex with white grapes, yeast, a touch of funk and some sweet brown sugar and oak with a sour black cherry and alcohol finish. Medium bubbly mouth feel. Very good. Thanks for the opportunity Jason! TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Nose is dark and ruby colored with a light off-white head. Nose is rather yeasty with a bit of dark fruits and toffee. Flavor is pretty good and similar to aroma, but lacks the complexity of the original pannapot. This was a good beer, no doubt, but I was less than impressed. Doggythedog (1597), Split, Croatia

Shared with ogivlado. Poured a murky, opaque red-brown body with a medium sized thick beige head. Malty nose... caramel, raisins, sherry, alcohol. The taste struck me as quite lighter than I expected, but it was still very enjoyable. Very fine maltiness (wood, light sherry) with nice light vinuous warming notes of alcohol. A distinct herbal, fresh note hits after that before the taste spirals into oblivion, mint I reckoned, but not exactly. Raisins... light light acidity. Very interesting and though not as great as I hope it would be, still a very good beer. DSG (1515), Tel Aviv, Israel

Very dark brown color, almost opaque, with a medium, slowly-diminishing beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, some roastiness, some earth, some spices and dark fruits. Sweet flavor of malt and caramel, some oak, some spicy notes and dark fruits. More oak as it gets warmer. Finish feels a bit oxidized. Medium to full bodied. This beer has tons of character and still great drinkability. 8/4/9/5/17=4.3
(2/28/08) Bottle sample at PreZBF@Alvinne in Heule. Dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of wood, malt, caramel, dark fruits and a bit of spices. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, light wood and some dark fruits. Finishes dry. Full-bodied. Outstanding. This one was even better than from the draught. 9/5/9/5/18=4.6 tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Brown with some tan froth and suspended bits. Nose is raisin, brandy, fig and toffee with hints of vanilla. Medium light with a tang. A bit thinned by the barrel aging. Taste is raisin, brandy, pear, peach, nutmeg, clove and candi. A delicate sweetness is nicely balanced by the vinous sour wood. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA

Thanks to tyler for bringing this rare beer. Pours a dirty mahoganny with a brown head. Nose of fruit and malt. Apples, cherries, and wood. Flavors of toffee, dough, cherries, caramel, oak, alcohol, and spice. The flavors are sweet but with a light sourness. The body seems to have thinned out to form a sour slightly strange version of pannepot. Its hard to recognize the original pannepot underneath the calvados oak. I think this is a downstep from the original. A good beer still overall.
