Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

33cl bottle, vintage 2005, with mucho thank you’s to the man, miketd! Pours a hazy dark brown with mahoghony highlights and a nice creamy tan head that persists; good lacing. Aroma has oak, spices, dark overripe and dried fruits, and earthy yeast. Subtle, but plenty there to ponder. Flavor is a near perfect blend of the components of the aroma; everything’s there in a wonderful harmony. One amazing flavor profile and mouthfeel, excellent complexity without being overly busy or disjointed; very well done! Thanks again Mike for the chance to try this amazing beer!

Oh aye, another belting gift from our kid. I’m a lucky (and drunk) man. Very smooth and drinkable, a very very good belgian ale and strong as I like. Far too complex for me to describe. Maybe one day I’ll learn the vocabulary to do this justice, perhaps not though. Special, tasty and a privilige to drink. Cheers P!

Bottle pours dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma is wonderful candi sugar, dark fruit, and some oak. Has a medium light mouthfeel with a lot of carbonation. Flavor showcases how this brew shines. It melds beautifully the roasted malt, candi sugar, caramel flavor, dark fruit, with the oak. Overall a very nice brew. One of the best I’ve had in the style.

Bottle, 33cl, vintage 2005. Pours a dark nutbrown beer with a light brown head. The aroma is caramel with notes of esters. The flavor is caramel, plums and notes of acidity. The palate leaves a fresh and acidic aftertaste. Overall a very good beer from De Struise.

(bottle, thanks Marsiblursi!!) Pours muddy brown with an off-white head. Just a really great aroma of chocolate, vinousness, plum, raisin, oak all over, with some unidentifiable spice, and a fair amount of yeast. The taste is very heavy on oak, with a lot of vinousness, tart berry skin, plum, which yields to a salt and oak finish. Mouthfeel is definitely full and chewy. This was good, but it still isn’t as good as the masterpiece that is the original Pannepot.

Beautiful...cloudy head that won’t quit, medium-dark cloudy amber with many white floating yeast bits, a woody, yeasty, spicy, somewhat grassy nose and a clean, somewhat minerally, dry flavour. Like one poster mentioned, a hoppy APA with Belgian Saison similarities, a bit different, definitely special, but not the best from the brewers. Still a great beer though.

33 cl Bottle. Pour is a deep mahogany with a nice brownish head. nice aroma of candi sugar, belgian yeast, woody/nut and some soft , sweet fruits. bit of booze. Flavor is sweet and bitter at the same time with some alcohol warming. A bit of wood is present. Dry yet very full mouthfeel. Much carbonation, but not in a distracting way. Struise is my favorite Belgian brewer!
