Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Bottle 330ml 2005 , Volo
Appearance: Murky brown ale with bright, light white creamy head.
Nose: Clean yet potent alcoholic nose. Ripe aromatic , high pitch fruity aroma with brown malt.7+
Flavor/Palate : Medium light bodied. Slightly rustic acidic with plum, brown malts . Earthy foliage follow up. Alcohol warmth at finish. Complex, but does not deserve its hype.

2009-02-26. Very dark brown body with a mdoest tan head. (3+) Lightly boozy aroma has a sweet fruity malt character. Mil sugary caramel. Nice but more muted than I would have expected. Flavour is similarly quite fruity, dark fruit with a bit of a twang, over a sweet malt and sugar base. Touch of mild wood notes perhaps? Overall the twang of not quite sourness is a bit distracting from the finer fruit and malt character. (7+) Smooth medium to full bodied palate would benefit from just a touch more carbonation. (3+) Pleasant, but the regular version stands up better in my memory. Bottle c/o HogTownHarry

Bottle 33 cl. Huge thick and very creamy like beige head that just looks amazing and lasted for ever. Dark mahogany color. Excellent lacework was left in the glass. Out comes a very complex aroma with notes ala prunes, dates and other dried fruity tones. Mixing in was yeast, melon, oak and some wine like Calvados oak notes as well. Very vinous and potent sniff. Underlying liquorish and roasted malt could be detected. Over the palate comes an explosion of complexity like never before. Initial thought was more like a wine then any other beer that I have ever tried. Again vinous and alcohol, berries, oak, hint of spice, hint of almost smoke like notes. Heavy and thick body with an average carbonation. Heavy sweet flavor and yet very balanced with notes of bitterness and hint of acidic could be detected. Lingering vinous oaky liquorish and light chocolate finish with an alcoholic warming feel to it. What can I say, simply one of the best beers that I have ever enjoyed. I guess my rating just tippet this beer into top 50 which I totally think it deserves.

Bottle at Ølbutikken (in a plasticglass) and at home (in a wineglass) - shared with Mette. Dark dark brown (almost black) - light brown head. Apples (calvados), fruity, light burned, berries, licorice, light rubber, light light alcoholic. LIght sharp finish. And a lot more - very complex - Very nice !!!!

(Bottled) Very hazy, very dark ruby with a smallish and lacy, beige head. Sourish-malty aroma with some alcohol, and lots of oaky tannins. Lots of dried, dark fruit in the flavor, with some oakiness, and sweet, appleish calvados. No alcohol present in the flavor. Medium to full body with soft carbonation. Maybe an inch thin. I think the Reserva was the peak with this one. Now with the additional Calvados aging, the apple sweetness has taken over, masking most of the finesses. Still good, but no more than that. Nevertheless, I’m happy they did try...

33cl bottle from olbutikken, CPH. Ohh bwoy, have I looked forward to this?!. Indeed!. Pours dark brown with a nice stable creamy brown head. Aroma is immediatly everything - vinous, sweet, liquiorice, dark dried fruits, caramel, sugar - ohh so lovely. Palate is creamy & smooth. Big smile on my face right now. Liquorice is a bit dominating as it is in pannepeut. Very sticky lips. Warmth, smooth, complex, lovely. This is up there in the absolute best Belgium category! Im blown away! :-)

First bottle of BrianK’s 25th Birthday tasting. Pours an amber brown body with a thin tan head. Aroma is boozy with some spices present. Flavor is much less spiced then the regular pannepot. Spices, etoh, oak, and an undesirable metallic flavor.

Poured a murky brown color with a small, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of brown sugar, nutmeg, vanilla, caramel malts, light apple, raisins, oak, and a bit of alcohol. Taste of rum soaked raisins, apple, cherries, caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, and oak, with light alcohol in the finish. I think the 05 Reserva has aged better than this one. Thanks Steve for sharing this!
