Murky brown colour with pretty big, longlasting, beige head(tulip glass). Aroma is predominantly from the Calvados, after are waves of oak, berries and fruits. No alcohol detected here - the alcohol is overall nowhere to find. Tad sourish smell, probably from the effect of the apples. The backbone in mouthfeel is surprisingly light(due to the oak), which is good here, I found the other 3 Pannepot very sweet. Apples dominate the flavour, along with a woody tone, that is pleasantly acidic. This is a very good beer, although none from the Pannepot-line is on my top 100-list. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Pours cloudy ruby-brown with a small, rocky, light brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), average hops (flowers, herbs), average yeast (horse blanket, earth, leaves) with notes of dates, vanilla, and cinnamon. Full bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. blankboy (3230), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Aroma, which is milder then expected but still very nice, of lightly tart fruit, some sugary sweetness (just the right amount), malt, yeast, some hops and a hint of chocolate -- like I said, milder then expected and less complex but still very, very nice. Flavour of tart fruit, sweet caramel malt, a good amount of oak (not overdone) and sweetness -- not overly sweet which is great -- dark fruit, a bit of metal in the finish and the alcohol is well hidden. Lightly tart bitter finish. Well carbonated. Medium bodied. Not spectacular but still a great beer and I am glad to have had it. TomDecapolis (3197), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a deep hazy brown with a smaller bubbly creamy off white head. Aroma of molasses, caramel, woody, dark fruits, cherry, toffee, spices and minced meat pie. Flavor was pretty much a match of the aroma. ogivlado (3088), Zagreb, Croatia

Vintage 2005. Ruby dark redish coloured, pale brown head, fruity light caramel nose. Sherry, vinous fruity and alcoholic taste with notes of raisins and spices. Interesting but... hughie (3070), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Bottle opened at the Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield, on RateBeer Valley of Beer Crawl ’08. Many thanks to cgarvieuk for sharing this wondrous substance. Dark brown with a small off white head. Sweet malty toffee and candi sugar aroma. Here are some comments on that 10 out of 10 rating from those around me: haddonsman said poetically, ’It’s fighting to get out of the glass, tripping over itself.’ Then he added, with some bathos, ’Very acceptable.’ Madame SilkTork perceptively came up with ’Shortbread’. The taste was sweet, sugary and smooth with an edge of sourness. Some bitterness to follow. ’Wonderful,’ I wrote in my notes. Then, in different handwriting, I see I have written, ’Wonderful’ again, which was puzzling. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands
