Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

A huge thanks to toncatcher for sharing this one. A brew that we all had been waiting for to try. Deffinetly lived up to the hype. Lots of deep woody flavors with a long lasting bitter flavor. Some sourness. Very good.

Bottle. Dark brown with a nice lasting beige foam. Aromas of wood, sweet caramel, some vanilla, prunes, raisins and roasted coffee. The flavour is freshly sour at first but ended by a complex roasted sweetness.. Taste notes: spices, dark dried fruits, chocolate, wood, cane sugar and coffee.

[Bottle, thanks Marsiblursi!] Pours cloudy reddish-brown with a small tan head. Really nice aroma--raisins, subdued cinnamon and nutmeg, also quite a bit of fruitiness in there. Taste is slightly tart up front, then a little apple, yeast, oak and calvados. Good, thick mouthfeel with a slightly dry finish. Although this was very nice, I would say that it still isn’t on the level of the regular Pannepot. That having been said, it is better than the Pannepeut or the regular Reserva, and was better than I had expected.

(bottle, thanks Marsiblursi!!) Pours muddy brown with an off-white head. Just a really great aroma of chocolate, vinousness, plum, raisin, oak all over, with some unidentifiable spice, and a fair amount of yeast. The taste is very heavy on oak, with a lot of vinousness, tart berry skin, plum, which yields to a salt and oak finish. Mouthfeel is definitely full and chewy. This was good, but it still isn’t as good as the masterpiece that is the original Pannepot.

Bottle (2005). Pours a dark brown colour with a light brown/beige large head. Aroma is sweet, malty with tones of dark fruit. Flavour is dark, spicy, with tones of fruit, caramel, liquirice and vanilla. I enjoyed this immensely, and highly recommend it.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours very alluring dense and dark mahogany, with generous off-white head. Extremely complex aroma of sweet dark fruits, chocolate, liquorice, spices and caramel. Very well blended on the palate, with perfectly smooth mouthfeel, the smoothest of all the Pannepots. A truly great ale.

(bottle, 2006) pours the darkest ruby colour with a dense, short-lived beige head. aroma of dark fruits, caramel and dark chocolate, sweet spices, noteably cinnamon, clove and vanilla, with some oaky overtones, alcohol and perhaps a few hints of brown sugar. flavour is less spicy than the aroma, with strong notes of oak and some yeast and a long, lightly sour grainy finish, no alcohol presence at all. medium to strong body with very smooth carbonation - very easy drinking!

Pours a dark, dark brown with hints of red.Small mocha coloured head that lasts a while. Aroma is of chocolate fudge, candied cherries, vanilla, spice, caramel, sweet plums. Taste is something incredible. An explosion of flavor including candied fruits, pear, vanilla, chocolate, balsamic vinegar, hint of spice from the oak, plums, figs, and fennel. Great staying power on the finnish, really good lacing on the glass. Really good balance of sweet and sour. Sit back and enjoy this one!
