Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

330 ml bottle, thanks to HogTownHarry. Poured ruby red/brown with a small pancake mix colour head. Aroma: Dark fruit, port, some spices, some nuts and a hint of alcohol. Flavour: Certainly sour, some oak and cherry, a nice spicy quality too. Some alcohol detected but it’s quite mute. A nice lingering port finish. Very enjoyable. Thanks Harry.

330 ml from Kramer17801; Nose of oak, brown sugar, raisins, and spice; clear brown with a small tan head; flavor of oakiness, prunes, molasses, spiciness, and a little alcohol. Not near as good as the regular version.

330. ’05. Thanks, Thewolf! Hazy ruddied dark amber. Dense tan head. Fruity and tart in a very pleasant way. Creamy medium body. Tart red appley with a little bit of brown apple. Mild tart finish. Not as interesting as the base beer, but very good.

From Koelschtrinker via trade. The pour was dark brown with light reddish highlights. A short ring of tan foam. The aroma is dark fruit, light citrus, brown sugar and yeast. The flavor is more vinous and tannic. The wood takes its place alongside some malts, spice and citrus. The mouthfeel is medium in body, the carbonation was just right and the alcohol was warm and welcome. Good stuff.

Bottle @ Monks Cafe 080425. Pours very creamy. Hazy, red-brown. The first sniff is almost a disappointment. Very withdrawn and muddy. Hints of oak, vanilla, burnt sugar and toasted apples, with soft red wine in the background. Vinous and soft, in the typical Struise way. I like the silkiness, but the flavors and aromas are withheld and muddled. There is certainly no wow-factor in this beer. Very confusing beer, I really want to like it, but in never reaches out and connects with me.

0.33 l bottle, vintage 2005. Hazy reddish brown color. Warming, vinous, chocolatey and nutty aroma with licorice and some meaty-woody notes as well. Tart-fruity and vinous flavor with chocolate, gooseberries, raisins and wood. Hint of sharpness from alcohol and tart fruits. Tasty, but I prefer the original which is smoother and not so tart-fruity-berryish.

330 ml bottle sampled at An Evening with Pantanap #4. Thanks to tyler for bringing this rare beer. Pours a dirty mahoganny with a brown head. Nose of fruit and malt. Apples, cherries, and wood. Flavors of toffee, dough, cherries, caramel, oak, alcohol, and spice. The flavors are sweet but with a light sourness. The body seems to have thinned out to form a sour slightly strange version of pannepot. Its hard to recognize the original pannepot underneath the calvados oak. I think this is a downstep from the original. A good beer still overall.

Thanks again moejuck: Mahogany pour. Very sweet smelling of dried fig, chocolate, oak, malt, and alcohol. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel, a little hot for my tastes, but flavor is complex- almost like a wine.
