Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

330 ml bottle, thanks to HogTownHarry. Poured ruby red/brown with a small pancake mix colour head. Aroma: Dark fruit, port, some spices, some nuts and a hint of alcohol. Flavour: Certainly sour, some oak and cherry, a nice spicy quality too. Some alcohol detected but it’s quite mute. A nice lingering port finish. Very enjoyable. Thanks Harry.

330 ml from Kramer17801; Nose of oak, brown sugar, raisins, and spice; clear brown with a small tan head; flavor of oakiness, prunes, molasses, spiciness, and a little alcohol. Not near as good as the regular version.

330. ’05. Thanks, Thewolf! Hazy ruddied dark amber. Dense tan head. Fruity and tart in a very pleasant way. Creamy medium body. Tart red appley with a little bit of brown apple. Mild tart finish. Not as interesting as the base beer, but very good.

33 cl bottle - 2005 vintage; thanks to Sammy for the trade; pours very dark amber with thin tan head; rich aromas of wood, bourbon, candy, sugar and dank fruit; a slight tartness like the danish version and rich flavors of spice, raisins and fruit; dry and mild sour finish; very oaky and sweet; pretty damn good, but a little bit of a letdown as i wasn’t blown away by the flavors or texture

Courtesy hopscotch....thanks again Eric! This one pours a crazy looking, cloudy, muddy, golden-tinted mauve color. A swirly tan film with a bubbly edge crowns the top in stark contrast to the massive, billowing foam of the regular Pannepot. The inviting appearance leads into a sweet aroma of figs, raisons, and caramel. Fresh golden apples add a sharp, tart element, while Belgian yeast and funky barrel notes add depth and complexity. In the mouth, the tart apples push their way through the sweeter elements, emerging on the forefront. Soon after, sweeter, figgy, dark fruit notes follow. Finishes with a sour twang that just seems to be a bit out of place. The substantial body is smooth and moderately carbonated, resulting in a nice mouthfeel. This is a very, very good beer, but the regular Pannepot is head-and-shoulders above this version, in my opinion. This is an instance when messing with a good thing just doesn’t pan out as well as one would hope for.

This beer was bought in Ølbutikken and I can only agree with the commercial description regarding the statement about the shop. This was 2005 vintage sampled in February 2008. The aroma is full of oak, but also some spicies, alcohol and it’s also acidly and sour. The flavor is first full of oak, alcohol burn and perhaps sour also. At first it’s not that good, but after you get used to it - it’s amazing! Perhaps the flavor is also sherry like.

2005 bottle shared by BOLTZ7555. Pours a clear brown with minimal light tan head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is port wine, spice and alcohol. Taste is complex with white grapes, yeast, a touch of funk and some sweet brown sugar and oak with a sour black cherry and alcohol finish. Medium bubbly mouth feel. Very good. Thanks for the opportunity Jason!
