Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Struise Schooltje Vleteren, also a unique beer. Dark brown in colour, with fine beige mousse. Aroma is more delicate than the original Pannepot and the reserva that i like so much. Its has a touch of apple and a interesting sour edge. aftertaste is pure finesse. Encore Merci Carlos !

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Dark hazy mahogany colour, small beige head. Aroma of pear brandy and calvados. Fairly sweet with a wealth of caramel. The dense malty body almost disappear in the immense spritzy liveliness. Lots of wood, caramel and prickly pear. Very elegant. Ultra-complex and near perfect. Perhaps the calvados detracts a little more than it adds.

This one poured a dark brown color. The aroma is complex with some oak, chocolate, caramel, raisins, and alcohol. The flavor is rather sweet with some oak, vanilla, chocolate, molasses, and other dark fruits. This is good in small amounts but can get a bit too sweet. Some alcohol burn in the finish. Overall a great beer.

Bottle. Dark brown coloured with a lacing off white head. Vinous and sweet aroma dominated by dried fruits and tobacco with notes of vanilla, fruits, pepper and yeast. Flavour of dried fruits, liquorice, tobacco, pepper, yeast and vanilla with notes of wood and alcohol. Peppery and warming alcoholic finish. Fizzy palate.

Bottle shared with toncatcher. The guy is great for finding these good beers. Sweet aromas of cherry and wood. Flavors were similar with more sweet fruit and touches of oak barrel. Some yeasty finishing flavors and touches of sweet malty caramel. Such a good beer.

Very special thanks to sk8viking for sending me this 2005 bottle! Rating #2500!

Poured a lovely shade of deep garnety-copper with a short, unbelievably long-lasting creamy beige head... some intricate lacing stuck to the glass as it descended. The aroma was an exercise in complexity and balance with deeply-rooted plum, toffee, and brandy notes laced with sour green apples, splinters of old oak, and a soft, dusty, peppery yeast that’s up there with my favorite things.. some banana comes through right at the end. The flavor was close, but didn’t quite hold up to the nose (we’re talking high standards here).. honey, brown sugar, and raisins roll gracefully onto the palate with a little bit sharper oak and Calvados riding out the warm back-end with peppery notes and funk from the yeast.. very nice balance. Warm on the palate with layer upon layer of goodness.. sweet overall, and quite strong on the back-end.. overall a fantastic brew!

Cloudy dark brown pour with golden highlights. Towering rocky head. Delicious array of aromas beginning with fudgey chocolate and toffee followed by nuances of burnt sugar and spice and fig paste and very subtle oak. Rich malts smooth as silk deliver all of the above on the palate. The finish is uplifted beautifully by an almost tangy subtle funk-acidity suggestive of brettanomyces. There is no suggestion of alcohol heat in mine at all. This is the smoothest and richest 10% ABV beer I have ever had and it is also among the most enjoyable in its approachable complexity. Truly outstanding!
