App.: Very, very deep ruby-black with a fairly large, light tan froth.
Aroma: Some nice, rich deep malts, quite fruity, also quite bright, some minty herbals, a fair bit of orange peel and citrus, brown sugar and molasses, a touch of licorice, kinda spicy, maybe some wood-related notes, but could be power of suggestion, a little alcohol.
Palate: Medium+ body, fairly low effervescence.
Flav.: Lots of molasses, brown sugar, licorice, tangy fruits, citrus peel, a little alcohol, some vague wood notes; fairly sweet mixed with a definite sour note and a little bitterness, finishes with nice deep malts a bit of warming alcohol.
This is quite enjoyable, but the organic acid brightness takes away from the experience.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2009 The hazy burgundy brown liquid keeps it elegant beige cover forever. Wood and fruit cake are evoked in this spicy-anise, oregano, pepper- aroma. The wood quickly takes a strong apple character, revealing the calvados barrel that went into the process. Quite acidic, having a rather juicy middle despite the unmistakenly Belgian soft foamy, ample texture. As its rich malts evoke chocolate, prunes, dates and raisins, its yeast levels it up with fittin desserty spiciness. A sweet offering indeed, if not quite at the same levels than the regular Pannepot, especially with that acidity backing up. Deeply complex, yet I find myself liking it less than the less alcoholic, tighter regular Pannepot whose maltiness seems less cohesive. If the barrels add an extra layer, they also remove from the brightness of the layers underneath. Still, that’s one excellent and unique offering. SeanMacGC (255), Dublin, Ireland

Extremely complex aroma of sweet dark fruits, chocolate, liquorice, spices and caramel. Very well blended on the palate, with perfectly smooth mouthfeel, the smoothest of all the Pannepots. A truly great ale. tdtm82 (40), Essex, England

A hedonistic smell of cameral; dark chocolate, musty perfume and brown sugar If they could bottle that I’d wear it! Awesome texture. Very dark and robust coffee notes with red elements and a sandy colour at the top. Purely intoxicating. A wonderful brew.
I recommend pairing wtih a Rochefort 10. WOW.

Rich oaked plum and spiced port aromas ride a brown sugar wave throughout. Dark spiced fruitiness and wood gain a touch of metallic’s upon reaching room temperature. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dark fruit finish. Nice, but seems like it spent more time in the wood than truly necessary… ciriliox (1), Spain does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Aroma: Red fruits, chocolate, Oporto (sweet wine). Very subtile.
Appearance: Almost black, very opaque. A fine browny foam lasts for long.
Taste: Subtile as its aroma, but mouth-watering. Cramberries, chocolate, figs and wood are the flavours i found.
Palate: The best of the beer. A "velvet-ish" sensation caresses your mouth, with its sweet evolving layer.
My favourite beer ever (so far). trapez (829), Hilleroed, Denmark

Aroma is more delicate than the original Pannepot and the reserva that i like so much. Its has a touch of apple and a interesting sour edge. aftertaste is pure finesse. Encore Merci Carlos !
