It was slight sour with even slighter sweet, perhaps from the tartaric acid of the winecasks it was kept in. It had no bitter taste. Only some bitter in the mouth feel. Fruity tones like elderberry and a mere idea of spices. White wine characteristics make this a very winy (bubbly wine like) beer. Great!

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle, 33cl. Pours very alluring dense and dark mahogany, with generous off-white head. Extremely complex aroma of sweet dark fruits, chocolate, liquorice, spices and caramel. Very well blended on the palate, with perfectly smooth mouthfeel, the smoothest of all the Pannepots. A truly great ale. tdtm82 (33), Essex, England

A hedonistic smell of cameral; dark chocolate, musty perfume and brown sugar If they could bottle that I’d wear it! Awesome texture. Very dark and robust coffee notes with red elements and a sandy colour at the top. Purely intoxicating. A wonderful brew.
I recommend pairing wtih a Rochefort 10. WOW.

Rich oaked plum and spiced port aromas ride a brown sugar wave throughout. Dark spiced fruitiness and wood gain a touch of metallic’s upon reaching room temperature. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dark fruit finish. Nice, but seems like it spent more time in the wood than truly necessary… ciriliox (1), Spain does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Aroma: Red fruits, chocolate, Oporto (sweet wine). Very subtile.
Appearance: Almost black, very opaque. A fine browny foam lasts for long.
Taste: Subtile as its aroma, but mouth-watering. Cramberries, chocolate, figs and wood are the flavours i found.
Palate: The best of the beer. A "velvet-ish" sensation caresses your mouth, with its sweet evolving layer.
My favourite beer ever (so far). trapez (825), Hilleroed, Denmark

Deep red colour with beige head. Rather sweet flavour with ripe fruits, chocolate, wine and alcohol. Aftertaste like portwine. madmitch76 (645), , Essex, England

Not much else going on. It’s quite drinkable but was expecting much more. proesti (56), Lille Nord, France

Aroma is more delicate than the original Pannepot and the reserva that i like so much. Its has a touch of apple and a interesting sour edge. aftertaste is pure finesse. Encore Merci Carlos ! pompelmoes (66), Belgium
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 11, 2009 Rich dark brown in colour with creamy head. Nose is very maly and fruity at the same time. The beer is smooth on the pallet and has a wide panorama of taste-elements. It has hints of coffee Port-wine, confit-de-pommes, dried fruits and Calvados-brandy. The taste is rich and very refined. This barrel aged version is also less stout like then the regular one. Finish is long, complex, slight sour, malty and bread like.
A tuely fine barrel aged beer with a remacable wine like finesse in the end.
