Brown sugar, oak, berries, apple, and plum in the nose. Flavour is dominated by soft buttery malts. The oak aging gives it a twist. Very nice soft soothing palate. I think it is one of my top 5 beers. Pours dark brown with a thick frothy off white head. Aroma is brown sugar, dark fruit, and a hint of oak. Tons of dark fruits, raisins, and more brown sugar on the taste. Very well balanced, big flavors, nice body, and delicious. Extremely good beer. Svesse (2209), Hässelby, Sweden Jun 27, 2009 (Bottle, vintage 2006, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen) Dark brown colour with huge, frothy, pale brown head. Malty nose with dried fruit (prunes, raisins), dark rye bread, brown sugar and just a touch of wood. Slightly estery. Malty taste with dried fruit, figs, dates, ripe cherries, clove, dark bread, brown sugar and a hint of oak wood. Delicate but superb wood finishing makes it more mellow and rounded than the usual Pannepot (a lot to learn for many brewers). Full body, with smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Sweetish. Alcohol well integrated, comes through at the back of the palate in the finish. Excellent beer in lovely balance! planky84 (6), , Greater London, England does not count Jun 25, 2009 Pours dark brown with dissapating head. Aroma dark fruits, sultanas. Taste rich, vinous, dark plums, dark chocolate, roasted malts. Lovely!
