decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA May 11, 2009 A huge thanks to tronraner for offering up the beer of the day. Aroma is deep brown sugar with a clinging sweet fruitiness that is amazing. A deep brown pour with a creamy tan head and lace. Dark fruit flavor with molasses and a hint of warmth. Just a bit too foamy for me is all that kept this from going through the roof. thanks again joe! DalzAle (474), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA May 10, 2009 2005 Bottle sample from STLWill (Thanks!) Dark brown pour, medium carbonation and a wonderful plum and spice aroma. Flavor was intense spice, clove, pepper, brown sugar, raisins and plenty of effervesence. Very good beer, I can only hope to try this again sometime. MatSciGuy (627), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA May 9, 2009 [Bottle] shared by STLWill. Pours a clear deep brown with a large beige head. Aroma is amazingly rich with lots of raisins, tons of brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet, slightly tart, oaky, raisins and brown sugar, and a touch of alcohol. Phenomenal beer, and one I’ve been looking to try for a while now. railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA May 4, 2009 This was another gem i have been saving and lately i have been cleaning out my cellar and having quite the time, poured a dark cloudy brown with a nice thick head aromas of raisins and fruits and a light oak finish.CHEERS! Butters (1622), Virginia, USA May 2, 2009 Sampled at Springslicker’s Fish Fry ’09. 2005 vintage. Clearish brown pour with big tan head and good lacing. Stellar aroma. Sweet, big and malty. Just the smallest noticeable twinge of alcohol. This was absolutely delicious. I would love to get my hands on another sample. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA May 2, 2009 750ml Bottle at C&P Throwdown courtesy of Cheeseman. 05 Vintage. Pours a muddy brown with some reddish highlights and thick big long lasting tan head. Huge nose has plum, raisin, fig but also some heavy wood and slight sour notes. Taste is moderately spicy up front with a sweet chewy caramel middle with dark chocolate covered raisins. Finishes lightly sour with lingering notes of vanilla, chocolate, caramel and brown sugar. Super complex, super amazing. Pannepot is amazing in its own right but this is just a bit better, the slight sourness sets it apart from its normal version. Iceman82 (26), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 30, 2009 Updated: Jul 19, 2009Its amazing!!! I received this bottle from by beer director....I cant thank her enough for this one. Pours a dark brown with some red hues when held up to light. Beautiful tan colored head with light lacing. I don’t know if can get more complex than this. Aromas of apple, plum and fig swirl from the glass with a light oakiness. Taste is unreal...apple, plums, vanilla, caramel nutmeg, clove blend with a caramel and coffee maltiness. TrefwoordPunk (549), Leiden, Netherlands Apr 30, 2009 Updated: Sep 24, 2009Bottle 33 cl. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small tan head and an intense aroma of ripe fruits (cherries, plums, grapes), caramel, sweet malts, sweet chocolate, honey, liquorice and some spices. The flavor is sweet with more sour notes coming in later on. Notes of toffee, ripe plum, cherries and grapes, oak, candy sugar, cognac, whiskey, brown chocolate and yeast. A long, partly bitter, but more sweet and whiskey-like finish. A great beer!
