charlotte (1997), Vanlřse, Denmark Feb 9, 2008 Hazy reddish colour.Taste is deep fruity a bit like good red wine.Flavor of Cherry and Grapes aswell, full body and well balanced beer. toncatcher (228), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA Feb 8, 2008 Thanks againg to Fordest. This was good, however I think that the regular pannepot was equally as good. Pours brown with an slightly auburn hue and tan head. Aroma of wood and malt. Flavors of sweet malt, oak, and brown sugar. padrefan98 (787), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Feb 8, 2008 Thanks to fordest for sharing this one. I thought the aroma was a little lacking but the flavor was outstanding. Some sweetness from carmalized brown sugar, malts, and some burnt wood detected. Very smooth. I really enjoyed this one. PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA Feb 1, 2008 Bottle thanks puzzl! Pours a beautiful deep brown/burgundy with a creamy khaki head. The nose has an ideal oak presence. Soft pine-wood notes, as well as some sweet Belgian malt notes of toasted brown sugar. Nice creamy carbonation. The flavor has mild oak notes, with a perfect presence. Nice soft Belgian malts play an important role in the flavor, supplying subtle sweet and toasted notes. Creamy and smooth. A delicious Belgian Ale. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Jan 31, 2008 Updated: Jul 6, 2008This is due for a re-rate, let me say that up front. I had only a very small sample, but I have another bottle which I will drink all to myself to properly assess this beer, hopefully within the next month. Has a woody, sweet aroma, cinnamon, pineapple, pine tar, resinous, with a sweet finish. Tobacco flavor is present but subtle, but palate is a bit thin and doesn’t offer the wonderfully refined sweetness of its brother. I look forward to having more than a few ounces of this. 7/4/7/4/3.9
update 6/30/08: Drank this alongside normal pannepot and pannepot GR. Man, what a beer. Pours a beautiful dark brown with an unbelievable head. Though the sweetness is not as complex as its unaged brethren, it has a light but beautiful sourness and wonderful tobacco notes. The body is extremely soft and an absolute delight to drink. A fantastic beer. 8/5/8/5/4.3 notalush (2628), Denver, Colorado, USA Jan 30, 2008 Thanks to puzzl for sharing (huge thanks!) - one of the best beers at quite an impressive tasting - soft but complex aroma of wood, scotch, brown sugar, lavender - very soft carbonation, silky mouthfeel - light oak, brown sugar, light nutty character - very light tartness - dark fruit, red wine flavors, anise and chocolate way in the back - indescribably awesome. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Jan 30, 2008 Bottle thanks to Puzzl. I think brought back from Belgium. After accumulating enough in my glass as courtesy from a few in the room, just enough to sample and maybe rate. Very good, sweet and a bit oily (could be peoples mouth oils, eww). Still pretty good. Some spices and yeast with a bit of candi sugar. Not much wood in there for me but the fruits and spices are very nice. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Jan 27, 2008 Bottle, thanks to puzzl. Murky light brown pour. Aroma is really malty, candy sugar, dark fruit, bubblegum. Flavor is also rich and sweet; brown sugar, candy sugar, some dark fruit / plum. The oak is barely noticable.
