Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Sampled at Kulminator: Aroma is full of caramel richness, with layers of wood, and sourness. Pours a deep reddish brown with 2 fingers of head. This beer laced very thickly against the glass and even the bottle. Really beautiful to watch as well as drink. Flavor is extremely balanced. Carmel, wood, sourness, and a hefty hop bitterness make this superb, while having caramel flavor this beer is not lacking dryness either. Mouth feel is slightly thick, but not syrupy. Really an amazing beer.

750ml bottle. 2006 vintage. huge thanks to pantanap for breaking this bad boy out and then pairing it with regular pannepot. pours dark frown with off white head (slightly lightly in color and not nearly as dark a head as regular pannepot). the aroma is very similar to regular pannepot but taken down a notch (not as sweet, nutmeg, and other spices), notes of oak, nutmeg, cardamom, and dark fruits. flavor is held together nicely by the oak with some oak, vanilla, dark fruits, and nutmeg. the flavors are toned down, less sweet, and more together than regular pannepot. the finish is drier, slightly sour, and seemingly more complete than regular pannpot. also the mouth feel is fuller than regular pannepot. in the end, it holds a lot of the original pannepot characteristics but less sweet and spices making it mellower and even more drinkable, however, I like the intense sweet and spice notes in the regular panapot so they score the same for me as both are amazing beers for different reasons.

750ml bottle thanks to jeppe! cheers my man!.....pours deeper brown with some reddish plum hues (lighter than the standard). topped of by a hefty fluffy light tan head....nose was nice and oaky and still full of spice but less so than the regular version. nice soury-sweet-spiciness that works with a nice synergy.....so soft and supple in the mouth, velvety smooth on the tongue. specifics fall upon the dark fruit yet still maintaining the nice spiciness of the original. perhaps this is a little too soft for its own good in comparison but i think i mght give the edge out to this original if only .1 more. Add +.1 because i can’t stop thinking about this one. Will need to try this against the grand reserve somehow.

750 ml bottle thanks to Papsoe. Wonderful aromas of chocolate and cherry. Some wood in there too. Flavor was very mild wood with more cherry and some alcohol. I definitely like the original better. But I am starting to get a bit wooded out. Still, this is a wonderful beer.

Thanks againg to Fordest. This was good, however I think that the regular pannepot was equally as good. Pours brown with an slightly auburn hue and tan head. Aroma of wood and malt. Flavors of sweet malt, oak, and brown sugar.

Thanks to fordest for sharing this one. I thought the aroma was a little lacking but the flavor was outstanding. Some sweetness from carmalized brown sugar, malts, and some burnt wood detected. Very smooth. I really enjoyed this one.
