Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Bottled at Cafe Frape in Mestreech. COlor is hazy dark brown, huge tick stiff head, proper lacing. Nose is berries and wood. Flavour is dominated by soft buttery malts. The oak aging gives it a twist. Very nice soft soothing palate. I think it is one of my top 5 beers.

2007 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thick frothy off white head. Aroma is brown sugar, dark fruit, and a hint of oak. Tons of dark fruits, raisins, and more brown sugar on the taste. Very well balanced, big flavors, nice body, and delicious. Extremely good beer.

(Bottle, vintage 2006, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen) Dark brown colour with huge, frothy, pale brown head. Malty nose with dried fruit (prunes, raisins), dark rye bread, brown sugar and just a touch of wood. Slightly estery. Malty taste with dried fruit, figs, dates, ripe cherries, clove, dark bread, brown sugar and a hint of oak wood. Delicate but superb wood finishing makes it more mellow and rounded than the usual Pannepot (a lot to learn for many brewers). Full body, with smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Sweetish. Alcohol well integrated, comes through at the back of the palate in the finish. Excellent beer in lovely balance!

Thanks to TheCheeseman. I think this was a 2005 vintage. Pours a cloudy dark brown with some yeast chunks. Aroma of sweet dark fruits and some funk. Flavor is smooth and sweet with dark fruits and a little alcohol. Nice brew.
