Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Jun 27, 2009 (Bottle, vintage 2006, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen) Dark brown colour with huge, frothy, pale brown head. Malty nose with dried fruit (prunes, raisins), dark rye bread, brown sugar and just a touch of wood. Slightly estery. Malty taste with dried fruit, figs, dates, ripe cherries, clove, dark bread, brown sugar and a hint of oak wood. Delicate but superb wood finishing makes it more mellow and rounded than the usual Pannepot (a lot to learn for many brewers). Full body, with smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Sweetish. Alcohol well integrated, comes through at the back of the palate in the finish. Excellent beer in lovely balance! planky84 (99), , Greater London, England Jun 25, 2009 Pours dark brown with dissapating head. Aroma dark fruits, sultanas. Taste rich, vinous, dark plums, dark chocolate, roasted malts. Lovely! GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2009 Thanks to TheCheeseman. I think this was a 2005 vintage. Pours a cloudy dark brown with some yeast chunks. Aroma of sweet dark fruits and some funk. Flavor is smooth and sweet with dark fruits and a little alcohol. Nice brew. djtimeless (170), Florida, USA Jun 21, 2009 Updated: Jun 30, 2009Pours out black with lots of head. Very carbonated. Smells sweet, funky and a little tart. Taste is sweet, fruity, and some funk and wood. Smooth, sticky and mellow. Lots of flavors going on here. Great beer, more drinkable than expected. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jun 20, 2009 Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Belgium, consumed at Kemmel campsite 11-06-09 Pours dark chesnut brown with a light beige head. Big malty aroma with dark sticky fruits, dates, figs and some stewed fruits start to show, there is also some candy sugar showing. Taste is really smooth, sticky and quite sublime. This tastes like a wonderful dessert with alcohol soaked dark fruits, the dates and figs showing again in the mouth. I don’t really get the oakiness but I think that the ageing has definately smoothed out this wonderful beer. A7 A5 F8 P5 Ov16 4.1 Allen (1285), Switzerland Jun 17, 2009 Vintage 2007 from crackedkettle.com. Cork, marmite, apple, coconut, oak, salt and glue showing up in both nose and taste. Sweet. Malt accentuated. Full bodied. Lively carbonation. The characteristics which appear from the ageing are quite prominent. Very low bitterness. Sweet malty finish with hints of apple and huge amounts of spinach and apricot. Dissapointing. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 14, 2009 Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours hazy brown with copper hues and tan head. The aroma is sweet with cherry compote, grape jam, sweet plums, dates and red candied apples. I get a bit of booze on a big draw. The taste is rich and fruity with a mild tart fruity candy note in the background. I get sugar coated raisins, ripe plums, ripe peaches and a sweet rich layer of cherry. It smooths out nicely into the finish. Brew brewed with yum! Nightfall (645), Athens, Greece Jun 9, 2009 33cl Bottle (2007). Dark Red color with a small brown head.
