Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

750, capped and corked. ’06. Thanks, Thewolf! Slightly hazy ruddied garnet. Loose, sudsy tan head. Big buttery caramel nose--very candy-like and pleasant. Creamy medium body. Butterscotch, toffee, cola, nuts and brown bread. Long mixed finish. Complex and interesting.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours hazy brown with copper hues and tan head. The aroma is sweet with cherry compote, grape jam, sweet plums, dates and red candied apples. I get a bit of booze on a big draw. The taste is rich and fruity with a mild tart fruity candy note in the background. I get sugar coated raisins, ripe plums, ripe peaches and a sweet rich layer of cherry. It smooths out nicely into the finish. Brew brewed with yum!

2006 version. I think this was also shared by Tom. The aroma is sweet and sugary, lots of candy, french toast, dark fruits, light tartness, wood. Pours a muddy red brown. Lots of dark malts in the flavor, dark fruits, fruity candy, a touch of tartness from the oak. Really an interesting beer. Glad I got to try this.

thanks to tronraner for bringing this to Springslicker’s fish fry - Very complex, very tasty. Mix of blackberry, oaky, cherry and orther fruity notes mixed with a lot of woodsy aromas. As nice as it smells, it tastes even better - all of the wood and fruit that was in the aroma, plus red wine, chocolate, maybe some coffee, too. Very, very good.

750 ml bottle from Footbalm; Nose of Vanilla, dark fruit, and some light oakiness; hazy brown with a medium, glass-lacing tan head; flavor of chocolate, vanila, fruitiness, and som ewell covered alcohol. I like the regular Pannepot much better!

Rating #2000. Thanks to Carlo and Urbain. Reddish dark brown colour with a nice head. Lovely aroma of dried fruit very smooth and nice, also hints of wood, caramel, toffee and underlaying spices. Also very smooth flavour of malt, caramel, dark brown sugar, sweetness and ends up very full body and someway complex. I really love this beer.

Thanks to puzzl for sharing (huge thanks!) - one of the best beers at quite an impressive tasting - soft but complex aroma of wood, scotch, brown sugar, lavender - very soft carbonation, silky mouthfeel - light oak, brown sugar, light nutty character - very light tartness - dark fruit, red wine flavors, anise and chocolate way in the back - indescribably awesome.

Some years ago Struise was rather unknown in Belgium. Within the last couple of years they have grown to be one of the best and the most innovative Belgian brewery. This beer shows why!
Hazy dark brown with a tall beige head that last. Powerful aroma of sweet malt, barrel, spices. Very complex and extremely inviting. Flavor is sweet with a lovely dryness from the barrel aging. Soft and smooth, with millions of subflavors. No doubt a world class brew, I can’t wait to taste the Grand Reserva!
