Very much like the ordinary pannepot, but a bit drier, with notes of wood and butterscotch, and a cidery touch. A very complex beer. dkachur (2437), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Pours a brown color with a big frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is toffee, berries, chocolate, cherries and herbal notes. Taste is chocolate, cherries, berries, burned caramel, spice, herbal notes and bread. Full bodied. Damn good beer. Boutip (2406), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2009 2006 vintage drank in 2009 - Bottle: Poured dark brown color ale with a small foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of oak and light warming alcohol with some dry figs and a light chocolate note also perceptible. Taste is quite a complex mix between some oak notes with dry figs and raisins malt, light chocolate and a bit too much residual sugar at the end. Body is full with limited filtration and some low carbonation and no alcohol discernable thought it can be felt. Not bad but I have too admit that the regular version is definitely better then this. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Bottle from SL. Splendid brew, quite like the original but (did a held back bottle side by side) with some excellent oaky sawdusty notes. The pour was dark orangey-chocolate brown. The head was not as large as the original, but still quite nice and pretty. The aroma was complex, grapes, coriander, cinammon, other spices, light floral elements, apples, some dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, and sawdusty oak. The flavor was full of rich dark fruits, chocolate, grapes, apples, spicing, floral character, full sawdusty oak. The 10+% alcohol was quite smooth. The mouthfeel erred on the malty still side, yet was decent. Thanks, Robert, for making sure I got a bottle!

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2009 2005 vintage, consumed March 2009. As I popped the cap, the cork slowly started to creep out of the bottle neck on its own accord. Sensing an impending eruption, I swept in with a waiter’s tool to ease the stopper out under control. A loud pop confirmed that this was indeed a well carbonated bottle, though, thankfully, no foaming ensued. The pour yields a dark and dense, cloudy, mauve colored body that is crowned with a large and well retained head of creamy, khaki colored foam. Dense, solid sheets of lacing coat the glass almost entirely. Aromas are of stewed raisins and figs, with dark caramel notes and hints of light cocoa in the malt base. Candied orange peel and dark, earthen, wintery spices lend significant balance to the dark, fruity sweetness. Flavors follow suit, a bevy of dark, concentrated fruits showing strong, with raisin and fig being the dominant components. Anise and cocoa are accompanied by heaps of oak and vanilla, which really ties everything together nicely. The spicing is again quite earthy, potent, yet appropriate for this brew. Substantially bodied with above average carbonation activity, the mouthfeel is round up front, transitioning quickly to fizzy and semi-dry on the finish. This is an excellent beer. Not quite as masterful as the original Pannepot, but more impressive than both the Danish version and the Grande Reserva. drewbeerme (2315), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 16, 2008 750ml bottle. 2006 vintage. huge thanks to pantanap for breaking this bad boy out and then pairing it with regular pannepot. pours dark frown with off white head (slightly lightly in color and not nearly as dark a head as regular pannepot). the aroma is very similar to regular pannepot but taken down a notch (not as sweet, nutmeg, and other spices), notes of oak, nutmeg, cardamom, and dark fruits. flavor is held together nicely by the oak with some oak, vanilla, dark fruits, and nutmeg. the flavors are toned down, less sweet, and more together than regular pannepot. the finish is drier, slightly sour, and seemingly more complete than regular pannpot. also the mouth feel is fuller than regular pannepot. in the end, it holds a lot of the original pannepot characteristics but less sweet and spices making it mellower and even more drinkable, however, I like the intense sweet and spice notes in the regular panapot so they score the same for me as both are amazing beers for different reasons. This pours dark brown with a foamy, dirty white head. The flavor has some sticky sweetness along with notes of dark fruits. It finishes smooth and dry. It’s a tasty, well-crafted brew.
