Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

thank you olso2116 for sharing this magnificent beer. The oak aged version of one of my favorite beers on the planet did not not disappoint. A dark brown pour with a spicy cardimum nose and faint oak funk. Mixture of other spices that were incredibly well blended. Sweet body had the same wonderful medly of spices and noticeable oak.

FRO Throwdown: 2005 bottle. Dark brown, foamy. Chocolate and dry cocoa powder nose. Caramel candy. Nice and sweet but well balanced by a semi-sweet chocolate finish, with hints of caramel and fruit.

Pours brown / garnet with a tan soapy, dense head. The aroma has oaky, candy apple, dark toffee, Belgian yeast and oxidation that works for it. Medium / thin body with a lot of soft gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with green apple, dark malt, odd sweet & biting trait, Belgian yeaste, underlying oak and some alcohol. The finish has lots of sourness, green apple and funk. Good interesting and unique. I’m very glad I got to try this one - thought I’d never get a shot.

C-Bus 10: Bottle shared by moejuck: Pours a nice mahogany, with a light tan head. Aroma, woody, some fruits, vanilla, caramel, sweet. Flavor, fruits, some floral notes, malty and sweet with some nice oaky vanilla tones. Very nice brew.

A huge thanks to tronraner for offering up the beer of the day. Aroma is deep brown sugar with a clinging sweet fruitiness that is amazing. A deep brown pour with a creamy tan head and lace. Dark fruit flavor with molasses and a hint of warmth. Just a bit too foamy for me is all that kept this from going through the roof. thanks again joe!

2005 bottle. Pours a deep swampy brown color with a 2 finger thick beige head that left some spotty lacing on the tulip. Nose of candy sugar, figs, raisins, sweet oak. Flavor is very sweet with notes of candied dark fruits, brown sugar, oak, and faint booze. Been sitting on this one for a while......tasty.

750 ml bottle thanks to Papsoe. Wonderful aromas of chocolate and cherry. Some wood in there too. Flavor was very mild wood with more cherry and some alcohol. I definitely like the original better. But I am starting to get a bit wooded out. Still, this is a wonderful beer.
