Pours a dark caramel brown, with a thin, but well-retained light brown head. Smells of sweet dark malts, a little bit of dark fruit, oak, a little spice, and a little funk too. Very big flavor right up front, sweet carmael, dark berries and other fruits, maybe some apple. The oak is definitely present as well, and blends in pretty well with the other flavors. There is a noticeable little funk taste in there too which gave it its unique character over the regular Pannepot. Pretty crazy flavor, up in your face, but the alcohol is masked quite well. I get a little heat in the finish, but nothing highly evident. A little fruity finish and oaky aftertaste. I think I liked the regular Pannepot better, but this was very good too. Thanks again Eric!! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Brown colored beer with a firm tan head. Rockin aroma showcases the intricate complexities of Pannepot, with added notes of vanilla, red burgundy and a very light toasted wood. Nose is awesome. Flavor is mildly disappointing. The barrel seemed to mellow and tame the original Pannepot, but it seemed to lose a bit of its flavor intensity and concentration. Doesnt quite have the depth of flavor or body of regular Pannepot. That being said, still a killer brew. lithy (1850), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Dark brown red with a soft tan head. Dark candi sugar, light spices, vinuous and loaded with subtle aroma notes. Taste is prunes, figs, more wine like character, light spices. Wow. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2007 2006 Bottle. Body-dark hazy body with a quarter inch foamy beige head. Nose-very spicy, bready, lots of yeast, light vanilla, dates, light fig, maple and brown sugar oatmeal, butterscotch, very very light urea, light toffee. Taste-medium metal, unsweet apple, light bubblegum, unsweet raisin, unrefined/unfinished tasting, light lemon zest, low to medium alcohol, light zesty coriander, very light bourbon/vanilla, malt vinegar on the finish, light spiced rum, grains of paradise, nutmeg, light ginger, Belgian candi sugar, medium sweetness (a little too sweet for the style), hot phenols, very light lotion on the back end, camphor, lightly cottony in a sweet kind of way. Overall very good, slightly sweet without a lot of wood presence. Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing such a rare gem. illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma of dessert breads and spice. Flavor of christmas spices, dark fruit, and caramel. You sense but not taste the alcohol on the finish. I picked up some metallic notes as well. I wish I took better notes on this, but I do know that I like the regular MUCH better. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 9, 2009 Thanks to tocdog69 for a share of this wondrous beer! Lovely dark pour, amber but not murky. Its got a vibrant quality to it that exemplifies the complex flavors it contains. The nose is amazing, with a complex blend of barrel (woody and oaky, not that generic smoothness you often get with the pretenders), mild vanilla, rich and varied spices. The mouthfeel is amazingly silky, and the way that the regular Pannepot (itself a superlative beer) has been transformed is just a delight, with mild sour flavors enriching it. Awesome. I hope I have another chance to try this sometime. sunevdj (1788), Copenhagen OE, Denmark
