Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Thanks to tocdog69 for a share of this wondrous beer! Lovely dark pour, amber but not murky. Its got a vibrant quality to it that exemplifies the complex flavors it contains. The nose is amazing, with a complex blend of barrel (woody and oaky, not that generic smoothness you often get with the pretenders), mild vanilla, rich and varied spices. The mouthfeel is amazingly silky, and the way that the regular Pannepot (itself a superlative beer) has been transformed is just a delight, with mild sour flavors enriching it. Awesome. I hope I have another chance to try this sometime.

Tap at ZBF last saterday. Black-brown color with creamy head. Aroma is chocolat and malty. Flavor: malty, chocolate, hops and alcohol, a little sourness. complicated, but very good. Dry finish. My friends at ZBF found this the best of the Struise beers.

SpringsLicker’s Fish Fry. Sample from a bottle thanks to tronraner. 2005 bottle. Dark brown red with a soft tan head. Dark candi sugar, light spices, vinuous and loaded with subtle aroma notes. Taste is prunes, figs, more wine like character, light spices. Wow.

Bottle. Light spicy aroma with notes of fruit. Deep brown color with a light beige head. Nice full but balance body with notes of fruits, raisin, caramel and chocolate. Has a nice light sharp and bitter palate. Very nice.

Medium sized tan head with good retention and fair lacing. Hazy, brown with a copper hue. Nose is chock full of rather dark fruits, raisins, plums, notes of caramel and berries, light lumber notes and a hint musty, faint alcohol also. Big in body, oily on the palate with a soft carbonation though a light prickly sensation is noted. Fruity flavors, chocolatey notes, wood, light spices, caramel and a nice earthyness. Lightly sweet, fruity finish, alcohol is well represented in a good way, of course ;) A BIG tastey brew thats well worth the price. Bottle procured @statelineliquors.
