Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Dark chestnut color with a rocky big head, maybe exaggerated carbonation. Aroma of malt, caramel, some spices and light raisins, woody and sweet. Full bodied, with a powerful caramel flavor, quite sweet, with some woody touch that makes it more complex, and the alcohol is well hidden. Some sweet liquorice is evident mostly at the end. Excellent.

Dark brown with medium beige head. Vinious aroma with toffee, spices, overripe fruits and malt. Full body, sweet, overripe fruits and a warm finish from alcohol. Huge complexity. Not much room for improvement. Excellent!

Bottle at Chris o Shindig. Normal Pannepot aroma. Lovely and rich. Carbonation dies down over time. Rather creamy and full in mouth. Got a bit of wood/oak on top of the vinous notes. Stunning, but not as good as the 2004 and 2005 regular Pannepots that I have had. This was a little morse harsh and woody. Thanks to Ungstrup for bringing it, thanks to Sim for allowing me to drink her glass and thanks to all the guys at Struise for brewing it. 4.2/5 Re-rate bottle at Kulminator the weekend of Zythos 09. 2007 vintage. The previous woody nose has faded to a glorious Bordeaux red wine aroma. Too carbonated to start with but then this calms down. Really good druits. Good strawberry through to blackberry. Just the wine character blows me away. Bit of burnt coffee on finish.

Bottled vintage 2007. Courtesy of bierkoning. Thanks Edo! Dark almost opaque brown color, medium-sized brownish head. Aroma of plums and earthy oak barrel, also some cognac. Sweetish plummy flavor (plums, figs, dates), vinous mouthfeel, some oak and earth. Also apply Calvados notes, although less than in Grand Reserva. Quite sweet stuff, sweetness covers alcohol very well. Still I prefer my Calvados and Pannepot in different classes.

Københavnske Øldage 07. Thank you to the De Struise guys for letting me be one of those, who had this unique chance to taste these heaven sent drops... The color is deep red mahogany and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma is fantastic, harmonic and complex. I find notes of plum, raisin, dried fruits, berries, candy sugar, caramel and hints of chocolate. The flavour is impossible to describe, it’s very smooth and harmonic and fine, like velvet. And at the same time it has a unique depth. The dark, dried fruits like raisin and plum, berries, caramel, hints of chocolate are re-found in the flavour, where I also find a very well balanced sweetness, figs, hints of oak, citrus and a light, but perfect bitterness. The finish is very long, and like the rest of this beer, it’s very complex! 2189
