| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Dark brown with a thin tan head made up of very fine bubbles. I hated the regular version because it was overly sweet but the aging seems to have made this a bit better and milder. Still sugary in the aroma with some molasses. Flavour is subtle but has quite a bit going on, many different spices present themselves with some more candi sugar and sweetness. Finishes with a bit of alcohol and some slight bitterness. padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA

I thought the aroma was a little lacking but the flavor was outstanding. Some sweetness from carmalized brown sugar, malts, and some burnt wood detected. Very smooth. I really enjoyed this one. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 3, 2008 Sampled at cquiroga’s 3rd Annual Woodshop Tasting. Wetherel brought a 750ml of this, thanks John! Sampled alongside the Pannepot Grand Reserva. One of my favorites out of the many epic beers we tried that evening. The oak presence adds a nice layer of complexity to this already amazing concoction. Hazy burgundy color with a big light brown head and bubbles. Looks appetizing. Great aroma of toasty Belgian yeast, plum and raisin with lots of wood in the background. Flavors are similar to regular Pannepot, with toffee, more raisin, chocolate and cinnamon. The oak aging slides a subtle woody character into the finish, rounding out the bitterness and resulting in a "wow" feeling with each sip. It still has that tingly, soothing mouth feel as well. Just a notch above the Grand Reserva I think; overall I would say that I still like the original a bit more. Great! nbutler11 (773), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 14, 2009 Updated: Sep 15, 2009Rating #700. Bottle shared like a baller by ajm -- big ups for securing this through a trade. Pours prune with a beige head. Smells gloriously of raisins from across the room. Upon closer inspection wood, vanilla, and tart fruit are also apparent in the aroma. All of these flavors along with plum and brown sugar are concentrated in a Normandy-like assault at the front of the palate, followed by tannins on the mid, and oats landing on the shore after the battle. Well done. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 26, 2008 Sampled at Kulminator: Aroma is full of caramel richness, with layers of wood, and sourness. Pours a deep reddish brown with 2 fingers of head. This beer laced very thickly against the glass and even the bottle. Really beautiful to watch as well as drink. Flavor is extremely balanced. Carmel, wood, sourness, and a hefty hop bitterness make this superb, while having caramel flavor this beer is not lacking dryness either. Mouth feel is slightly thick, but not syrupy. Really an amazing beer.

Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights; sizable tan head and a good coat of lacing. Aroma is dark fruits, earthy yeast, light vanilla, and spice. Flavor is a big WOW, dark fruits, apple, and a well dialed in spiciness tempered well against a light oaky presence. Palate is creamy and smooth, full mouthfeel and light carbonation. This is one nice creation; thanks again Sune for the chance to try this!
