Strong dark fruit aromas over dark malt. Full bodied with mildly frothy carbonation. Flavor is several dark fruits with cola and mild yeast. Darkly fruity, hinting of bitter and not demonstrating heat. It takes time for the oak to come out. Worth the wait. BBB63 (4238), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Bottle 2006, many many thanks SS and served in my NB worthy glass: A slightly murky chestnut brown with a fading off-white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of oak and vanilla bean, earthy and herbal yeast esters, tangerine zest, grassy hops and a hint of cinnamon vapours. The taste starts sweet and malty but a kick in the teeth of twangy fruit comes about to play and rounds off the palate nicely. The finish displays a lot of spice and herbs in an almost Saison like character. The mouth feel is sprite and mildly aggressive, vinous but not in a good way. Much like the "basic" Pannepot I am a tad underwhelmed by this brew. Strangely my problem with regular Pannepot is it is too sweet and the Reserva is not sweet enough....go figure!
That said it rocks when added to the pan (deglase) of my dinner of penne pasta, aged marinara, and spicy andouille cooked to a moderate charred BBQ like taste! cgarvieuk (4196), Edinburgh, Scotland
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Deep brown ... little smokey malts ... Very simelar dark malt fruit richness to the normal ... lots of deep fruityness ... little woodyness from the oak ... little non bitter chocolate and just a touch of zeztyness and tiny citric bust I found this and the normal to be very slighly different making each distict but could not seperte them as one better than the other. These two beers were my top choice in an evening that included Narke Kaggen, Westvltern 12 and Nogne Dark Horizon so truly a stunning beer. Id also like to thank Carlo for the bottle. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 24, 2007 Bottle. High creamy and lasting light brown head. Black body. Aroma of coffee and caramel and some spices I have difficulty in figuring out. Flavor of roasted malt plus coffee and caramel with fruity notes plus spices. May sound strange but actually the beer gives you a smooth well rounded and pleasant feeling. The high alcohol percentage is very well hidden. goldtwins (4083), Nesconset, New York, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 15, 2007 Sampled at Cellar’s Friday evening weekly beer tasting. From bottle shared by olso2116, pours a semi-hazy dark brown brew with an average dissolving tan head that leaves behind a good lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with multiple scents of bananas, ginger, cinnamon, and dried pitted dark fruit. Flavor is sweet, average carbonated with a malty caramel flavor with some wood /oak character. Finish is smooth and a slight spice bitterness with an almond marzipan aftertaste. Most excellent! Ughsmash (4044), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 10, 2007 Bottles thanks to Mads and Marsiblursi, 2006. Rating #1900. Poured a very, very deep brown with a tall, well-retained cap of medium beige head.. left some nice lacing as it descended. The aroma picked up sweet, warm raisins and other dark fruits with a substantial oak presence.. lightly-toasted all-around with warm rummy notes especially at the back-end.. warm, complex, and engaging! The flavor found rich darker fruits and caramel at the core with light herbal hoppage.. sour oak serves as a lovely contrast/accent piece leading to the warm fruity finish. Heavier-bodied with nice carbonation.. creamy middle with sour oak accents.. complex.. warmed the belly. This is a very well-crafted brew! HogTownHarry (4020), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Bottle. At Chris_O’s September 2008 DenCan bash. Huge thanks to ... oh damn: harrisoni? reakt? I’m sure one of you will let me know ... Anyway, 2005 vintage. As it poured it looked a lot like wine ... brownish, slightly cloudy wine, with a decent if diminishing head. Lovely aroma - stellar, just what I would hope for from any Pannepot - a lush melange of yeast, spice, sweet fruity malt, mild tartness and alcohol - nothing out of the ordinary, but done so, so well. The taste was ... a bit thin; frankly, this hasn’t aged as well as I’d like - the yeast and malt seemed to have pulled apart some. The body seemed a little wan, and I was surprised how the alcohol had started to overpower the malt and spice ... it seemed a bit on the overcarbonated side too, but at least the finish was decently sweet. I’m no expert, perhaps this will thicken in a few years, but it seemed thin when I sampled it. Still a very good beer for all that.
