[HUGE thanks to the Struise guys for making this happen] A huge crowd of RateBeerians was gathered around three tables as the great stuff arrived directly from Belgium. The question was, could they surpass the already legendary Pannepot. Initial appearance was small creamy beige head that mostly diminished. Properly coursed by the oak aging as the regular Pannepot had a very foamy appearance. Still some good lacework was displayed. Colour was muddy dark brown. At first sniff the aroma appeared somewhat weak. Mostly because it was too cold. As it warmed up, an explosion of notes appeared. Especially the Oak and wood/vanilla aroma became evident. Also notes of apricot, caramel, liquorish, cinnamon, fruit, molasses, light chocolate, prune, spice, date, and soy sauce….yes the list goes on and on. Full bodied with an average carbonation and every so lightly warming alcoholic texture. Unbelievably well balanced flavour. The mouthful was just so round and creamy like. This goes down so smooth. The most incredible lingering sweet finish. Rciesla (3777), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Unclear red/brown - big offwhite head. Raisins, licorice, caramel, sweetness, dark bread, brown sugar, berries, spices... and all the other Pannepot flavours. And then they have added some fantastic wood, oak flavours to a good beer !! sayravai (3767), Helsinki, Finland
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2007 (Bottled, 2006 edition, 0.75l@Delirium Café, Brussels) opaque, very dark brown with a medium, foamy and lacy, slightly tanned head. Very malty aroma with oaky vanilla, dark fruit, calvados and hints of alcohol. Sweet and Xmas-spicy, rhummy, milk-chocolatey, maraschino cherry flavor. Quite full-bodied, slightly foamy-carbonated and sticky palate. I have to say, that this is very sweet, and it’s almost hard to finish a half of the 0.75l bottle. On the other hand, it is a very good and enjoyable beer. Oak/calvados aging has not affected the flavor that much (not like in Calva Reserva, for example), but certainly there’s some extra complexity in the form of oaky vanilla etc. Anyway, the basis was already a world-class brew, so... A pleasure to drink (well, even think of :). With the bottle almost finished, the alcohol begins to warm quite a bit. Dedollewaitor (3759), Odense, Denmark

This is candy for grown ups. Malty, raisin & prune, spicy, nutmeg, alcohol, oak & a slight metallic edge. Full bodied. Soft palate. Very complex. Almost as good as the "regular" pannepot. Long end... saxo (3640), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Poured a hazy brown color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, caramel malts, oak, nuts, dried fruits, and some cherry. Taste of more caramel, light spices, vinous, with more cherry, vanilla, and light alcohol in the finish. The age in the barrel has really helped to subdue the intense spicing in regular Pannepot. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Murky copper color with a thin head. Big spice aroma, a little cardamom in particular. Flavor has a bit more graininess than the regular. Salt and yeast stand out. The oak is barely noticeable. Very, very fine, but I think I actually like the regular a bit better.
