Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Bottle thanks to Andy. Doesn’t hold its head as well as other Pannepots. Flavor is mostly applesauce. There’s a bit of Belgian yeast taste but the best part of this beer is the delicate mouthfeel.

Thanks to egajdzis for sharing this. Pours a deep brown with amber notes and a bubbly off white head. Aroma of molasses, dark fruits, vanilla, pice crust, spices and almonds. Flavor of caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, nuts and toasted malt along with some spices and earthy notes.

On tap at the Football Pub, Rome. A beer elexir, with all the elements expertly blended in. Sweet, malty, heavy, yet balanced. Coffee, cocoa, spices, malt. Just lovely. Dangerously strong to have on tap!

Bottle courtesy of Immy at Immy’s Backyard Throwdown. 2005 vintage. Murky brown pour with a short tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar, custard and sweet malts. Taste is light cocoa, dark fruits, custard, caramel, light spice, yeast notes, brown sugar, oak and vanilla notes. Very tasty! Body is medium and chewy with dense, tingly carbonation. Ends with more dark fruit notes, soft spice, oak, caramel, custard, brown sugar and chocolate. Yummy!

Bottle, 2007. Very dark brown with a beige head. Sweet, leathery aroma with pear drops. Taste is richly malty and immensely sweet, like crystallised dates. A curious backtaste of baked apple served with custard and golden syrup. Some late dryness. Near perfection, but I must say I began to find the sweetness a little cloying towards the end.

Bottle, Olfestival. The Struise guys drove all night to get to the festival in time and brought some of this delicious Reserva bottles of the Pannepot. How grateful I am that they were there, and that I was there to taste it. Delicious combination of sweet double beer notes and dried fruits. Candy sugar, port wine, cask wood. Aroma is perfect. Lingering palate goes on and on. Please give me more of this stuff, its brilliant!! :-)

Black colored with medium sized light brown head. Vinous aroma with bubblegum, licorice and raspberry-caramelly notes, weird one. Not too much oak here in flavor, vanilla makes nice combination with some spices. Aftertaste is sweet still with berries, licorice and some sourness.

Re-rate, Pre Tasting 08 PP Belgian Fest w/ my girlfriend Cyn, Bartzilla and Galtscat. Bottle from Galtscat. Pours dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and yeasty and nice. Taste is sweet robust syrupy, very nice killer palate. 29th Rating from 3rd Annual Woodshop tasting in Temple City, CA. 3/1/08. One hell of a day put on by Cquiroga, thanks for a killer day Chris. Also spent the day there with bikesanbeer, my girlfriend Cyn, wetherel, JohnC, DenverLogan, dirty_martini, jasparg, DrBil, IPAFiend, awaisanen and many others, this was one crazy day. Bottle from wetherel. Pours amber with an off whtie ring. Nose is mellower than grand reserva. Taste is sweet and complex, big and very nice. Great beer, like it about equally to grand reserva for different reasons.
