The beer it self has a muddy reddish, brown colour with a beige head. Malty, dark fruit sweet aroma with spicy notes and hints of alcohol and wood. Smooth and wellbalanced vinous flavor with alcohol and wood notes. Great beer from a great brewery. mucom (35), Netherlands

Superb nose but yet very sweet. Lot’s of aromas present like vanilla, coffee, chocolate with hints of liquorice and nutmeg. Smooth carbonation, almost not Struise at all. The taste is even more complex starting very malty over different fruits like prunes, grapes with hints of grapes. Along the way some spices like liquorice and nutmeg take over without domination. Smooth and long aftertaste of vanilla oak, fruits, malts, it doesn’t end. The magnified Pannepot, IMO a great idea. After a downward rerate, I finally gave these points, my second bottle was probably bad. anders37 (4792), Malmö, Sweden

The beer pours to a really hazy unfiltered dark brown body with a dense tan head. Nice sheet lacing. The aroma is very strong with spicy fruit cake, white pepper, caramel, spices, cinnamon, candied cherries, and oak. Very complex and quite nice. The flavors are sweet malts, nicely blended spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, fruit cake, candied pineapple, and maraschino cherries. Ultra complex. Oak. The palate is delicate, nicely textured, warming, spiced, and slick. Phil (100), Kent, England

Very much like the ordinary pannepot, but a bit drier, with notes of wood and butterscotch, and a cidery touch. A very complex beer. Ughsmash (4079), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 10, 2007 Bottles thanks to Mads and Marsiblursi, 2006. Rating #1900. Poured a very, very deep brown with a tall, well-retained cap of medium beige head.. left some nice lacing as it descended. The aroma picked up sweet, warm raisins and other dark fruits with a substantial oak presence.. lightly-toasted all-around with warm rummy notes especially at the back-end.. warm, complex, and engaging! The flavor found rich darker fruits and caramel at the core with light herbal hoppage.. sour oak serves as a lovely contrast/accent piece leading to the warm fruity finish. Heavier-bodied with nice carbonation.. creamy middle with sour oak accents.. complex.. warmed the belly. This is a very well-crafted brew! tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 26, 2009 750 mL bottle at the ’09 Fish Fry. Pours dark red brown with a large beige head. The aroma is amazing: raisin, yeast, anise, graham crackers, oak, rum, brown sugar, clove, dark fruit, zest. It smells so good it took me several minutes to take my nose out of the glass to take a sip. The flavor is sweetish at first with raisin, rum, brown sugar, and some sticky prune juice notes. But through the mouth it picks up a faint tartness that cuts the sweetness beautifully. A distinct sharp oak quality develops as well and really does bring the flavors together. The finish and aftertaste are dry and just a touch spicy with residual oakiness lingering far into the dry-ish aftertaste. Very complex and perfectly balanced. This beer is amazing. I want more!
