Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Bottle, Olfestival. The Struise guys drove all night to get to the festival in time and brought some of this delicious Reserva bottles of the Pannepot. How grateful I am that they were there, and that I was there to taste it. Delicious combination of sweet double beer notes and dried fruits. Candy sugar, port wine, cask wood. Aroma is perfect. Lingering palate goes on and on. Please give me more of this stuff, its brilliant!! :-)

Bottled at Københavnske Øldage. Cloudy dark brown, dense head. Intense arousing aroma of raspberry and wood. Earthy, soft and mild. There’s cherry and wood. Deep complex earthy buttery malt character. The oak barrel character is restrained, just adding complexity to an already complex beer. Instead it is driven by superb malt flavours and esters. Mild, soothing and fruity, Westvleteren 12 like, as I remember it from the first time I tried it. Ultrasuperb - one of the very best beers I’ve ever had the opportunity to try.

On draught @ Struise farm. Deep dark brown coloured beer with creamy everlasting ivory froth. The smell is sweet and super complex. Loads of malty aroma’s going on here, also fine touch of spices and vanilla like oak. Slight coffee and chocolate accents working well with hints of dried fruits and wood. Mouthfeel is very silky. Taste is smooth, very malty, has the sweetness of honey and touches of fruits that balances wonderfully. Aftertaste is very long, smooth and still super complex. To me, the perfect nightcap.

thank you olso2116 for sharing this magnificent beer. The oak aged version of one of my favorite beers on the planet did not not disappoint. A dark brown pour with a spicy cardimum nose and faint oak funk. Mixture of other spices that were incredibly well blended. Sweet body had the same wonderful medly of spices and noticeable oak.

There’s really nothing more to say that someone might just call this the "special edition" of the best beer in the world. I never thought I would try this one, until Urbain came walking in with half a crate! I will be forever grateful that I had the opportunity to try this gem!

Pours out black with lots of head. Very carbonated. Smells sweet, funky and a little tart. Taste is sweet, fruity, and some funk and wood. Smooth, sticky and mellow. Lots of flavors going on here. Great beer, more drinkable than expected.

Bottle 2006 thanks to Urbain and Carlo!!! A muddy brown beer with a big beige head a beuatyfull beer! The aroma is very complex, with berries and wood, dried fruits and liqourice, just great. The taste is velvet like, sweet and spicy with berries, fruits, wood and liqourice. Medium to full body with a long sweet finish. Can´t wait to get my hands on some bottles of this!!!

Bottled at Cafe Frape in Mestreech. COlor is hazy dark brown, huge tick stiff head, proper lacing. Nose is berries and wood. Flavour is dominated by soft buttery malts. The oak aging gives it a twist. Very nice soft soothing palate. I think it is one of my top 5 beers.
