Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Sampled at Kulminator: Aroma is full of caramel richness, with layers of wood, and sourness. Pours a deep reddish brown with 2 fingers of head. This beer laced very thickly against the glass and even the bottle. Really beautiful to watch as well as drink. Flavor is extremely balanced. Carmel, wood, sourness, and a hefty hop bitterness make this superb, while having caramel flavor this beer is not lacking dryness either. Mouth feel is slightly thick, but not syrupy. Really an amazing beer.

Bottle cbus-x graciously shared by moejuck, thanks again Joe! DIrty brown pour with a tan head. Aroma of light oak, booze, light bready malt, candied fruits. Flavors of booze soaked fruits, wood, dry malt, light malt...fairly subtle flavors. Medium body...boozey/malty with a dry finish. Pretty nice, though I think I prefer regular Pannepot a bit better...feels like the the barrell againg muted everything a bit too much. It doesn’t change the fact that it is still damn good.

Thanks tocdog69 for sharing this at the sexual chocolate release! Vintage 2005. Muddy brown pour with garnet hues. Fluffy beige head and drippy lace. Vanilla, figs, and chocolate on the nose. Silky mouth-feel. Dark fruits, oak, toffee, and spice. Long bitter finish

C&PLYFOTD: 2005 bottle, courtesy TheCheeseMan. Caramel red pour, thin lacing and a white head. Slightly tart nose, cherries, hazy chocolate, licorice, honey, and just a shit-ton of spices. Rich brown sugar flavors, caramel and chocolate, very dry sexy tartness throughout. Very rich. Full-bodied, very yummy, could drink for ages. Delicious.

Lugging this around in the backpack from Denmark wasn’t the most fun, but the beer was worth it. Poured dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma was sweet and spicy with bananas coming through. Flavor was very complex and also sweet and spicy. Beautiful mouthfeel. I just wish I would have brought back some of the regular pannepot so that I could have done a side-by-side comparison.

Thanks to kiefdog for bringing this to a tasting. 05 version. A: Pours a nice dark brown with a small tight off white head. Okay retention with light spotty lace. S: Wonderful malty aromas. Tons of caramel and brown sugar. Mild spices blend well into rich dark fruit. T: Flavor of rich sweet malts, chocolate, and spice. Dark fruit, oak, and a touch of sour on the back end. Lots of flavor going on here. M: On the fuller side of medium. Nice mild carbonation, with a light sour finish.

Thanks kiefdog for the share. Amazing beer that is heavy, but lovable. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is caramel, candy sugar, and some raisiny goodness with some alcohol. Flavor is very similar with a thick sweetness and lots of sugary, raisiny goodness coming out. Deep, dark and excellent complex beer.
