Caramel red pour, thin lacing and a white head. Slightly tart nose, cherries, hazy chocolate, licorice, honey, and just a shit-ton of spices. Rich brown sugar flavors, caramel and chocolate, very dry sexy tartness throughout. Very rich. Full-bodied, very yummy, could drink for ages. Delicious. ajm (949), Los Angeles, California, USA

What I admired most about this was how it staved off oxidation for this many years. Another monument to Struise’s unbridled excellence. As far as the goods, I found them a full, balanced single note: raisins. Everywhere. The Struise house yeast saves the day as usual but I find 12 oz bottles of Pannepot to be crushingly complex in comparison. Just IMO. MatSciGuy (639), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA

Aroma is amazingly rich with lots of raisins, tons of brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet, slightly tart, oaky, raisins and brown sugar, and a touch of alcohol. Phenomenal beer, and one I’ve been looking to try for a while now. finol (519), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw bottles of this sitting at a booth! Poured dark brown with a small white head, light lacing. Aroma was vinous, caramel, brown sugar, oak and fig/plum. Flavor was plum, fig, light chocolate, caramel, quite a bit more sour and vinous than I’d expect from having had regular Pannepot so many times. Nice bit of oak finish. This was the 05 version, and it was very tasty. bluebetty (132), Australia

Pours a deep mahogany showing nice reddish tint when held up to the light. Large tan head. Hangs around for a while leaving plenty of lacing. Aromas are quite sweet with heaps of malt and plenty of dark fruits. Wood shows through really nicely. Flavours are quite sweet with plenty of caramel and malt. Dark fruits and wood are also there in the taste. Heaps of complexity in the beer and plenty of flavours I cant describe. Mouthfeel is spot on with minimal carbonation. Great beer. Mix of blackberry, oaky, cherry and orther fruity notes mixed with a lot of woodsy aromas. As nice as it smells, it tastes even better - all of the wood and fruit that was in the aroma, plus red wine, chocolate, maybe some coffee, too. Very, very good.
