Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

Intens dark brown, chesnut like in colour with red highlights and creamy beige head on top. Aroma is very winelike and refined complex. It has a rich malty character with hints of coffee Port-wine and dried fruits. The taste is full, elegant and very soft. It is less stout like then the regular one but the Quadruple character in this beer is more present. Aftertaste is long, complex soft malty and nicely bread like. A tuely great beer with a longlasting aftertaste.

Some years ago Struise was rather unknown in Belgium. Within the last couple of years they have grown to be one of the best and the most innovative Belgian brewery. This beer shows why!
Hazy dark brown with a tall beige head that last. Powerful aroma of sweet malt, barrel, spices. Very complex and extremely inviting. Flavor is sweet with a lovely dryness from the barrel aging. Soft and smooth, with millions of subflavors. No doubt a world class brew, I can’t wait to taste the Grand Reserva!

75cl bottle at Copenhague beer festival 2007, ratebeer tasting with a lot of enthousiasts being present and lots of all round congrats for Struise bringing the Reserva up North. Pours a beautiful black brown beer with a little creamy head. Chocolate malty aroma. Mouthfeel is creamy, light carbonated and dry. Much going on in the flavour, dark fruits, roasted malts, chocolate, hops and alcohol, some sourness present too. Fascinating and delicious. Long fruity and oak aftertaste. I did a rerate on this beer, having tasted 3 samples in the last two months, this are my average points

Københavnske Øldage 07. Thank you to the De Struise guys for letting me be one of those, who had this unique chance to taste these heaven sent drops... The color is deep red mahogany and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma is fantastic, harmonic and complex. I find notes of plum, raisin, dried fruits, berries, candy sugar, caramel and hints of chocolate. The flavour is impossible to describe, it’s very smooth and harmonic and fine, like velvet. And at the same time it has a unique depth. The dark, dried fruits like raisin and plum, berries, caramel, hints of chocolate are re-found in the flavour, where I also find a very well balanced sweetness, figs, hints of oak, citrus and a light, but perfect bitterness. The finish is very long, and like the rest of this beer, it’s very complex! 2189

Bottle at Chris o Shindig. Normal Pannepot aroma. Lovely and rich. Carbonation dies down over time. Rather creamy and full in mouth. Got a bit of wood/oak on top of the vinous notes. Stunning, but not as good as the 2004 and 2005 regular Pannepots that I have had. This was a little morse harsh and woody. Thanks to Ungstrup for bringing it, thanks to Sim for allowing me to drink her glass and thanks to all the guys at Struise for brewing it. 4.2/5 Re-rate bottle at Kulminator the weekend of Zythos 09. 2007 vintage. The previous woody nose has faded to a glorious Bordeaux red wine aroma. Too carbonated to start with but then this calms down. Really good druits. Good strawberry through to blackberry. Just the wine character blows me away. Bit of burnt coffee on finish.

Rating #2000. Thanks to Carlo and Urbain. Reddish dark brown colour with a nice head. Lovely aroma of dried fruit very smooth and nice, also hints of wood, caramel, toffee and underlaying spices. Also very smooth flavour of malt, caramel, dark brown sugar, sweetness and ends up very full body and someway complex. I really love this beer.
