Commercial Description:
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.
Latest bottling: april 08

CBF07 sample from 75 cL bottle, placed on the RB table by the crazy Belgian brewers who drove alle Saturday to come to Copenhagen with this treat, cheers! Pours hazy deep brown with a huge light brown head. Aroma is wineous, roasted malt, dried fruit, raisins mainly. Flavour is soft malty sweet. Strong fruity and complex profile, really lovely blend. Alcohol makes a short appearance. Slight smoked note and soft malty caramel with a strong alcohol note in the finish.

Bottle @ ChristianScheffel. [thank you Christian!]
Wow! Pours a dark brown with slight ruby edges. Big fine beige creamy beige head. Aroma is fantasticly complex, vanilla comes as the first impression - oak in itself is difficult to discern. There are plums, raisins, alcohol and belgian sugars. Stunning creamy palate. Flavour is great - the wood enhances all factors in the beer. Vanilla is again very present, prunes, raisins, sugar, some chocolate. Brilliant!

Bottle from SL. Splendid brew, quite like the original but (did a held back bottle side by side) with some excellent oaky sawdusty notes. The pour was dark orangey-chocolate brown. The head was not as large as the original, but still quite nice and pretty. The aroma was complex, grapes, coriander, cinammon, other spices, light floral elements, apples, some dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, and sawdusty oak. The flavor was full of rich dark fruits, chocolate, grapes, apples, spicing, floral character, full sawdusty oak. The 10+% alcohol was quite smooth. The mouthfeel erred on the malty still side, yet was decent. Thanks, Robert, for making sure I got a bottle!

Tap at ZBF last saterday. Black-brown color with creamy head. Aroma is chocolat and malty. Flavor: malty, chocolate, hops and alcohol, a little sourness. complicated, but very good. Dry finish. My friends at ZBF found this the best of the Struise beers.

750ml Bottle at C&P Throwdown courtesy of Cheeseman. 05 Vintage. Pours a muddy brown with some reddish highlights and thick big long lasting tan head. Huge nose has plum, raisin, fig but also some heavy wood and slight sour notes. Taste is moderately spicy up front with a sweet chewy caramel middle with dark chocolate covered raisins. Finishes lightly sour with lingering notes of vanilla, chocolate, caramel and brown sugar. Super complex, super amazing. Pannepot is amazing in its own right but this is just a bit better, the slight sourness sets it apart from its normal version.

2007 vintage tasted at the Kulminator in September 2008. Murky ruby red with thin white head. Aroma of nutmeg and allspice, maybe some vanilla. Full-bodied balanced malt, hops and spice - figs and dates, raisins, that vary throughout, Complex mix of flavors and a long bitter finish.

Another Gem from the Wayne Gretsky of new Belgian breweries. Sweet, big, fruity, thick! chewy, I only wished I had two livers so I could have drank twice as much of this in Belgium. These guys are not only excllent brewers, but really fun guys to hang with. I can’t wait to get my hands/mouth on more of this sweet nectar - gods willing.

Bottled. Dark brown red coloured. Light brown dense and impressive head. Ripe fruits like plums and prunes is mingeling with spices, light sweetness and a subtle sourness. Very complex and balanced. Flavour as well is on the ripe fruit side. Has some liqourice, plums, berries, spice, light caramel and again this balanced ying yang sourness/sweetness. Great. Is full bodied. Has a somewhat oaky fruity end with a nice touch of alcohol. Very very good. Yet another great brew from de Struise brewers. Thanks to Urbain and Carlo for bringing this to Denmark.
