Aroma is choclate, dried dark fruits, oak, vanilla, ginger. Flavor is chocolate, spruce, oak, vanilla, ginger, clove, roast. Palate is full bodied, medium carbonation, finished sweet and warming. This is fantastic, however I think I like the un-oaked slightly better. cgarvieuk (4212), Edinburgh, Scotland
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Deep brown ... little smokey malts ... Very simelar dark malt fruit richness to the normal ... lots of deep fruityness ... little woodyness from the oak ... little non bitter chocolate and just a touch of zeztyness and tiny citric bust I found this and the normal to be very slighly different making each distict but could not seperte them as one better than the other. These two beers were my top choice in an evening that included Narke Kaggen, Westvltern 12 and Nogne Dark Horizon so truly a stunning beer. Id also like to thank Carlo for the bottle. drseamus (103), Troy, New York, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 24, 2007 I found this jewel at the Delirium Café while in Brussels. It was a 750ml bottle and was poured into a chalice glass.
A: It has a very dark body with high visible carbonation. Topping the body is a very thick off-white head that is continuously replenished by the carbonation allowing it to last a long time.
S: The aroma is pretty yeasty with caramel and sherry or bourbon notes. It was a bit yeasty for me personally but still very inviting.
F: The flavor makes it very obvious that this is an oaked beer. It starts initially with a good malty sweet flavor with hints of caramel and then a rush of vanilla oakiness develops and takes over. It leaves a bitter almost acidic feeling in the back of my mouth, possibly from the alcohol. As it warms up, the oak smoothes out and becomes a nicely complimenting flavor.
M: I was surprised at the mouthfeel of this beer, being only medium in body. I had expected it to be a bit heavier but it was very nice.
D: This is a great beer, although possibly not quite as good as the regular Pannepot. It is definitely one to try given the chance though. Theis (3768), Denmark

Unclear red/brown - big offwhite head. Raisins, licorice, caramel, sweetness, dark bread, brown sugar, berries, spices... and all the other Pannepot flavours. And then they have added some fantastic wood, oak flavours to a good beer !! KAME (156), California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 11, 2007 Updated: Jun 28, 2007#100 (On tap at Zythos Beer Festival 2007). This was the beer that I was most excited to try at Zythos, and it didn’t disappoint. Aroma was similar to regular Pannepot, but with a very balanced oaky presence. The aroma was a little less overwhelmingly spicy and more balanced than Pannepot, a perfect 10. Flavor was also quite similar, but it appears that the alcohol presence increased quite significantly as a result of the oak aging. Flavors are sweet caramel malts, dark spices, oak, and slightly hot alcohol. If the alcohol wasn’t so present, this would have been my #1 rate to date. I really enjoyed this offering, and it was the highlight of my trip to Belgium. Slayer85 (588), Firenze, Italy
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 8, 2008 750 ml bottle, vintage 2006, thanks to Jeppe for keeping the beer for me. A cloudy dark ruby beer with a medium sized, beige, creamy, lacing and persistent foam. The aroma is very complex, malty, fruity (cherries, berries, dark fruits) and spicy. Lightly woody and alcoholic. The flavour has a medium sweetness and a light acidity. The oak is well integrated. Very malty, spicy and fruity and some light licorice and chocolate notes like the regular Pannepot. Warming and very complex. Medium to full body, average/lively carbonation, long finish with light bitterness, lightly alcoholic. World class, no doubt. MaltOMeal (653), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA

This poured dark brown with a tan head which produced great lacing. Nose was of dark fruit, brown sugar, oak and spices. Taste was of pepper and spices with vinous fruit. Very complex. Mouthfeel was medium with a dry finish and some alcohol noticeable. Incredible stuff! TampaBrew (867), Tampa, Florida, USA

POurs a murky brown. Aroma is sweet with tons of things going on. Some rich spices, malt sweetness, ripe dark fruits, semi sweet chocolate. Flavors are much of the same with some barnyard funk, rich malts, sweet sugars, spicy yeast notes. Bready, raisins, more spices, booze. Wonderfully complex beer in every way. I NEED more.
