Aroma of oak and light warming alcohol with some dry figs and a light chocolate note also perceptible. Taste is quite a complex mix between some oak notes with dry figs and raisins malt, light chocolate and a bit too much residual sugar at the end. Body is full with limited filtration and some low carbonation and no alcohol discernable thought it can be felt. Not bad but I have too admit that the regular version is definitely better then this.

Wow, a surprise from a friend. 3 way blind taste test alongside pannepot grand reserva 2006 and westvleteren 8. Nice dark appearance with a creamy beige head. A very clean ripe white fruit smell, I get pears here mostly, and something reminiscent of soap also gets me. Taste is quite malty, lot’s of those pears still around and a good boozy taste. Beautiful silky smooth mouthfeel, a real success. SeanMacGC (255), Dublin, Ireland

Extremely complex aroma of sweet dark fruits, chocolate, liquorice, spices and caramel. Very well blended on the palate, with perfectly smooth mouthfeel. A truly great ale. bluebetty (139), Australia

Pours a deep mahogany showing nice reddish tint when held up to the light. Large tan head. Hangs around for a while leaving plenty of lacing. Aromas are quite sweet with heaps of malt and plenty of dark fruits. Wood shows through really nicely. Flavours are quite sweet with plenty of caramel and malt. Dark fruits and wood are also there in the taste. Heaps of complexity in the beer and plenty of flavours I cant describe. Mouthfeel is spot on with minimal carbonation. Great beer. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

I enjoy the original, but this one just didn’t do it. boFNjackson (1322), Portland, Oregon, USA

The taste of this beers is maibe the best i have ever tasted. It is rich and elegant, spicey, malty and soft. aftertaste is refined and complex a true masterpiece. Bullit (1392), Glasgow, Scotland
