Coca-cola type appearance. Very nice appearance. I have never seen a beer this dark. I know there are a shitload of malts in this beer. The color is absolutely wonderful. There is no head to speak of. It was there and then faded away, almost too fast. There is a rather weak aroma, but when I do smell the beer it smells of raisins and caramel. I am a little upset with the potency of the aroma, but when i do smell the aroma it smells wonderful. Very malty. This thing is very thick and creamy for a belgian strong. This beer does not have a ton of carbonation like a lot of other Belgian Ales. The raisins, caramel, and malts are so tasty. Very sweet ale. The alcohol has a small bite at the end. This beer’s alcohol is hidden well. This is such a sweet beer, with a little dry taste. The aftertaste just lingers in your mouth. This is an exceptionally tasty Belgian Ale. This beer has a creamy texture, and I can definitely say this is one of my favortie Belgian Ales. The flavors just linger for so long. I have not tasted a beer like this in a while.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent mostly lasting head. Deep red-brown colour. Fruity nice moderate aroma. Powerfull fruity woody flavor. Prunes and vanilla and many more nice ingredients. Creamy palate. Long nice finish.

33cl. bottle: This has become a real classic with me. Pours very dark rich brown with a red luminescence. Tall medium-dark tan head that is somewhat creamy. Great head retention for a 10% ABV beer. Aroma of plums dominates over some brown sugar and spiced iced-tea with a malt background. Anise adds a bit of a sharpness that brings out some dark over-brewed tea. Something ashy that gives a fire-roasted note can be picked up now and then. Upon tasting you notice the ABV. Malt is a little more pronounced in the flavor but still gets dominated by brown sugar with intermingled dark fruits including black plums. Dark raisin and a wood note add some nice earthiness. Some tea-leaves that almost turn to tobacco run from the middle till the (almost overly>>) sweet alcoholic and almost woody finish.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours murky dark brown with 1-finger head that quickly dissipates. Is it just me, or does this beer mimic St. Bernardus Abt 12 in just about every way? Lots of carbonation, dark fruit, berry, chocolate, oak, raisins. Finishes a little sweet, but the carbonation just wasn’t doing it for me. Good, but not on par with Rochefort/Westy.

bottled, brownish with hazy touch, lovely foam, notes of resin, brown sugar, sweet berries. the beaty of this is the balance imo.. keep up the good work!

11.2 oz. bottle from 2006 for rating #300. Poured dense, deep, dark brown with minimal head. Very sweet nose of plums, raisins, spices, and sweet malts. Virtually the same notes in the flavor. No alcohol evident in the taste. Very complex and very good.

Notes from side by side with the Pannepøt version. Dense black pour with nice one finger tan head. not much lacing to speak of. Aroma is mildly chocolatey, raisins in peppery alcohol, dark fruit... kinda stings the nose a bit, but in that good way. Also hints of vanilla and wood as it warms a bit. Initial flavor strikes me as quite boozy (fusels), dark chocolate and slightly tart berries. Some more woody notes develope as it warms and I become adjusted to the alcohol taste. notes of cocoa powder. finish is on the raisiny side. Bubbles are sharp and tingly, body is slightly chewy, finish is somewhat on the sweet side.

Thanks to mes and urbain!!! Darkest brow with a fine bubbled head. Aroma of salty seaweed, barley, sweet mollasses. This stuff comes close to ambrosia. Treacle, complex, angels breasts! It does taste a bit farmyardy, and it is the first time i mean ’pigs ass’ in a good way!! It is like swine covered in molten demerrera sugar!
