BuckNaked (1195), Tempe, Arizona, USA Feb 20, 2007 11.2oz bottle thanks to thebeercellar2: Pours to an opaque dark brown body with a huge, frothy & lasting tan colored head that almost looks as though it has a little bit of red coloring it as well. The aroma shows an interesting blend of burnt mint leaf, pine bark, roasted clove, mild eucalyptus, but underlying all this is what smells mild, but hints at a strong roasted, caramel, toasted malt base, it even shows hints of coca-cola at times (which to me smells like cinnamon, sweet caramel, syrup, and lightly tart molasses). The flavors are quite complex and unfold in what seems like three stages. Initial sip: light pine, sweet sugar cane, caramel, and citrus hops hiding in the background. Middle, while fully in mouth: roasted pine bark, roasted nuts (almonds?), apple, pear, coke, a brief hit of alcohol, mint, basil?, mild wood or toasted oak. Finish: vanilla bean, chocolate, bitter cocoa bean, mild coffee-infused wood, and hints of a spice I just can’t put my finger on - mint/sage? pine/eucalyptus? Medium-full bodied, lively carbonation, and rich. This is a very complex beer with superb spicing that never overpowers while blending with all the flavors to create a unified, yet diverse, tasting beer. The one MINOR thing that I don’t like is that it is just a little on the sweet side. The extended aftertaste gives a bit of dried anise and cherry.

Love the yellowish foam, the smell and the wellbalanced "exotic" taste. 2006..Tasty..gimme more!! :-p skoisirius (474), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 19, 2008 Tasted multiple times over the time it hit the USA in late 2006 until now, same vintage. What can I say that hasn DaSilky1 (1599), San Diego, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 Vinous nose with notes of raisin, red-grape, and significant malt with a fun musty character behind it. Very grape-like nose in fact. Brown beer by the way, with a frothy head. Flavors were very fig-like and had lots of raisin notes as well. Some solid bitterness was behind it all too. Again, the fig and raisin flavors dominate but there’s also nice red wine character riding along. Overall, its a nice, clean, full bodied malty ale, but I will certainly need to spend some more time with it if im going to be giving it the high scores that others have. daknole (683), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle and wow what a beer!! Holy crap! Pours a dark, dark brown with a tan color head that coats the glass with each sip. Aromas are brown sugar, syrup, dried dark fruit, spice. Thick and creamy the sweetness is just so beautiful. Dried fruits on the tongue, honey, molasses, mmmmmm hell yeah.
