Commercial Description:
Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival 'Københavnske Øldage 2006' exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer's popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

Bottle. Had it right after a Pannepot, and hardly compares outside of the name. Dark fruits abound, spices, alcohol, pretty average body for a Belgian Strong. Lacks the creamy body and rich flavors of Pannepot. My whole rating probably shouldn’t be based on the comparison, but suffice it to say it’s a solid Belgian Strong that’s worth a go.

Bottle. Pours a light cloudy brown with a small tan head (lighter body than Pannepot and the head is not as creamy and thick). Aroma mostly of light fruits, spices, and spicy crisp apple. Flavor of Belgian yeast, spcies, light fruits. It tastes so fresh! Not as complex as the Pannepot but I like the lighter fruit presence. Palate is not as creamy. I think I preferred this to the Pannepot.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a fizzy beige head. Fruity aroma, with melon, raisin and honey. Medium body, smooth, but a bit flat. Sweet malt flavor, honey, caramel, and fig. Ok, but not great.

2006 bottle from psprings... cloudy opaque mahogany/reddish brown color with a light beige head and some lacy trails. aroma of golden raisins, dry yeastiness, spice, light alcohol, orange peel, chocolate, earth, light acidity and roasted pears. on the sweet side but not too bad. it’s got to hide the 10%... the flavor is pretty much the same as the aroma with the addition of dried dates and sweetened green verjus. tart, dry, yeasty finish lingers a bit. medium body but a bit more than medium body...

From Voldby, DK. Bottled, 260608. Dark brown with brown head. Aroma complex of dried fruit, malt and hop spices. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, raisins, alcohol (well hidden) and a solid hop bitterness.

Yeah, I definitely remember the original being a pretty different (and better) beer. This one is good, but not nearly as complex or entertaining. Some prune and vanilla aromas with a slight musty aspect to it as well. Flavor is raising, molasses, and prune again. It leaves a bit of a disorienting roasted malt/alcohol flavor on the back of your tongue. Pours dark purple color with a nice off white head and some really entertaining lace.

2006 vintage. The beer pours to an extremely dark ruby body that looks black with a 1 inch tall frothy beige head. The aroma is extremely fruity and yeasty. Dark fruits of dates and figs meets a heavily estery yeast and plantains. The flavor is an extremely yeasty sugary malt bomb. Candi sugar, light brown sugar, estery yeasts, and light plantains. The palate has a long lasting sweetness, coating mouthfeel, and is sticky but not syrupy. Silken. A good beer.

Had this at Mes’s 20-06-08 in the company of Mes, Ang and Loz, many thanks Mes for your generosity The aroma is faintly alcohol with some soft vanilla ice cream that has also been liberally sprinkled with spices. The colour of this is a murky pond water brown colour, a bit like a puddle actually with a thin off white film for a head. There is a soft fudge chewiness the alcohol sits back then kicks in briefly reminding me of a lovely old port, some demera sugar, oohh this is lovely and feels fantastic in the mouth. I cannot wait to crack open the Pannepot. Cheers Mes!
