Commercial Description:
Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival 'Københavnske Øldage 2006' exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer's popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

2006 vintage. The beer pours to an extremely dark ruby body that looks black with a 1 inch tall frothy beige head. The aroma is extremely fruity and yeasty. Dark fruits of dates and figs meets a heavily estery yeast and plantains. The flavor is an extremely yeasty sugary malt bomb. Candi sugar, light brown sugar, estery yeasts, and light plantains. The palate has a long lasting sweetness, coating mouthfeel, and is sticky but not syrupy. Silken. A good beer.

Had this at Mes’s 20-06-08 in the company of Mes, Ang and Loz, many thanks Mes for your generosity The aroma is faintly alcohol with some soft vanilla ice cream that has also been liberally sprinkled with spices. The colour of this is a murky pond water brown colour, a bit like a puddle actually with a thin off white film for a head. There is a soft fudge chewiness the alcohol sits back then kicks in briefly reminding me of a lovely old port, some demera sugar, oohh this is lovely and feels fantastic in the mouth. I cannot wait to crack open the Pannepot. Cheers Mes!

2006 Bottle thanks to Bigmmartin. Pours a dark ruby body with a medium light beige head. The aroma is quite like sour cherries along with a ton of brown sugar and ripe fruit. The taste is full of many flavors heaps of dark fruits and perhaps strawberries, caramel and brown sugar, sweet milk chocolate, oh this is a treat. A very creamy and full mouthfeel that I love. Very good. Sweet, and full, no notice of the alcohol except a general warmth. Just so damn good. Struise kicks ass again!

2006 bottle. Fruity, sweet and musty — the hallmarks of a nicely crafted Belgian strong ale for me. Dark body, hazy, with off-white, fizzy head that slowly diminishes. Nice aroma of overripe fruits, especially plum and banana, toffee, chocolate and raisin. Just a hint of cellar mustiness. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Tastes of cookie, caramel, brown sugar and sweetened prunes. Long finish. Full body with a velvet texture that turns sticky in the finish. Lively carbonation and moderately alcoholic. Very enjoyable though a little too sweet to want more than one at a sitting.

bottle at tashi’s thanks to mes and reakt. very harmonious start. this smells lovely, and looks great. but it’s somewhat unrefined compared to the pannepot. very sweet and very bitter, not much in the middle and rough round the edges. don’t get me wrong, still a stunning beer. but maybe i’m a bit struise-spoilt...

750mL bottle shared by iowaherkeye in Jan. 2007. Brown color with a beige head and decent retention. Smell is of brown sugar, plums, raisins, and caramel. Taste is slightly tart, has some tastes of pears, caramel, toffee, and some dark fruits too. Medium bodied with a heavier than medium body. Thanks for sharing this, Joey.

Tasted it at the Proefzolder Picobrewery Alvinne. A dark red/brown colored beer, with a beige head, which dissapears quiet soon. An aroma of light chocolate, several sweet notes and a bit spicy. The taste of dar caramel, a bit sweet of raisins and prune. Also a bit spice.

Beautiful dark beer that is very fruity and extremely, overwhelmingly crisp. Huge head that filled the glass after two ounces were poured but settled quickly. Tons of brown sugar, cane sugar, sugary alcoholy liquers, and super sour green apple and plum skins. Lots of overripe plum ripe body flavor. Just awesome, don’t know why this isn’t rated higher, and can’t wait to try the Pannepot for sure.
