Commercial Description:
Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival 'Københavnske Øldage 2006' exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer's popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

Pours a lightly cloudy cola brown color. A large, foamy, tan colored head settles slowly to a wispy, creamy film. A sudsy wash mostly rejoins the body, with scant lines of lacing remaining behind. The aroma shows tons of candy sugar, caramel, fig and dark spice. A wave of tannic fruit, including overly ripe red apples, lends depth and a certain sourness to the nose. Flavors are basically the same, with caramel covered figs and apples showing quite sweet. A touch of spicy, floral hops lend some balance, though this one still falls well short of the median on the bitterness scale. Medium-full and creamy, the body slides down incredibly easily, leaving a lingering sweet and sour coating on the tongue. Drinks quite nice, but this just doesn’t hold a candle to the regular Pannepot. There is an intangible magic in that brew that this one doesn’t capture.

Bottle. 2006 w/Brian K. Traded from the motherland. Pour dark brown with amber hues. Strong spiced nose, not much else detectable. Flavor is that of spices, nutmeg, licourish, and caramel. Spied finish. Solid beer.

06 vintage. Pours a murky brown with a thin tan head. Noticeable yeast floating. Aroma is mostly raisin. Tastes of earth, yeast, plums, and sweet dark fruits. Palate is semi sweet with a earthy dry finish. Very tasty. Thanks Matt.

2006 bottle. Pours a tan brown and is somewhat translucent. Lacing is light. Aroma of sweet malt, fruit, spice, and booze. This is somewhat like a barleywine. Taste is of spice, fruit, sour fruit, malts, and light booze. Finishes dry with little bitterness. Mouth is full with some carbonation, maybe a little on the syrup side.

bottle served in a tulip. pours a deep brown color with a thin tan head. nose is full of spices and alcohol. flavor is very sweet with brown sugar and toffee being the base flavors with hints of fig, nuts, and cinnamon. alcohol is well hidden in the taste and only appears as a bit of warmth. quite good and like the rater before me I am now very interested in trying the real deal.

33cl bottle. Poured a deep brown with slight haze, highlights of auburn and orangey-gold, and a thin, light tan head. The aroma was sweet and malty - toffee, caramel, alcohol, and subtle touches of spice and fruit. The flavor follows the nose: lots of toffee and caramel in the malt flavors. The beer was very malty and had a fairly high degree of residual sweetness. The beer was mostly clean, highlighting the malts over all else. There were some esters around mid-palate: soft and dark fruit and very subtle notes of tart fruit and spice. The finish had a low degree of bitterness with a full, caramel malt finish. The mouthfeel was thick, but velvety and decadent - not syrupy and cloying. There was a decent bit of carbonation - which was surprising considering how little head poured up. Overall, this was a very tasty beer and hid its alcohol content extremely well. I definitely had this version ("ø" vs. "o"), but I’m looking forward to trying the other one now (it’s rated higher and is supposedly available in the area...).

Bottle 2006 Vintage: Pours a muddy brown with a wispy beige head and light bits of lacing. Nose is fruity and rich with caramel, dark fruits, spice, and a light hint of chocolate. Flavor is full of dark fruits, chocolate and spices. Cinnamon and cloves stand out, but there is a nice blend and balance of spice. Nice feel and good vibe to this brew.
