Aroma of dark fruit, brown sugar and a bit of yeast. Yeast comes out heavier in the taste, with the raisins, brown sugar and a little bit of peppery spices. Alcohol is fairly well covered. Very good brew. Not as good as pannepot. Oakes (8142), Kowloon, Hong Kong

Sweet, with hints of date, raisin, chewy malts, dark fruit and chocolate. Not as rich nor stylish as the regular, but quality brew. SSSteve (2104), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Pours a deep brown body with a dinkus tan head that vanishes rapidly. It’s got a fruity aroma - dark berries, prunes, dark cherries - along with burnt malt and a touch of caramel. Kind of flat. Sweet tasting, fruity still, with that ever present burnt flavor. Mayhaps a splash of coffee here, too. Throughout the strong alcohol content remains well hidden. Not bad.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 11, 2007 Bottle shared at CapFlu’s tasting after GCBF. Cloudy copper with a warm head. Alcohol and toffee. Very sweet. Hints of coffee and peat. I did not get the salt water or licorice I tasted in Pannepot. Not blown away by either. jzzbassman (850), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 11, 2007 Rated "blind" back to back with Pannepot. Both were 2006. Comparitively, this (the first drank) had much less of a head, but both had similar body and neither seemed overly carbonated. Chewy mouthfeel, I taste a bit more fruit and less of the spice of the other, with alcoholic sweetness a but more evident in this version. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
