| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Distinctive apple-like fruitiness and oak create Calvados allusions, as doughy yeast and lightly caramelized malts whip up a highly personable and expressive Belgian Strong Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy orangey amber.
-Alcohol is felt throughout, but does not bother the flavor profile much.
-A peppery spiciness is found in the last half.
-The body is well rounded and the carbonation very active, making for a soothing sipping experience.
-For now, I feel like there is so much going on in here that some flavors haven’t had the time to blend in with their companions. Maybe time will yield a more united flavor profile (to my tastebuds).

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2009 The smell is fruits, apples, yeast, oak cask, and slight tartness. The look is a muddy, apple pie colored, and has a ok head. The taste is fruits, apples, yeast, tart. I has hoping for a little more. egajdzis (3636), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Poured a murky orange amber color with a thin film of off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, oak, almonds, apples, caramel malts, honey, citrus. Taste of honey, citrus, apples, vanilla, toffee, light spices, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 24, 2009 This ale pours with a gloomy orange color and a huge, frothy and strongly lasting foam. Aroma is strongly reminiscent of the regular Tsjeeses, even still has the hops. Soft golden fruit, white burgundy, earth. Flavor is very pure, belgian. Well balanced and very sweet. It’s a nice beer. But, it doesn’t show a lot of wood character. Wow is this beer just like Stille Nacht or what? bonfunck (149), Waasmunster, Belgium

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Bottle pours cloudy amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is slight fruit, spice, leather, and tobacco. Has a medium mouthfeel. Flavor is very complex. There is a nice balance of fruit flavor. Peach, banana, mandarin orange, with a touch of mango. These fruit flavors meld together and finish with touch of white pepper. Overall this is a beautiful brew. I really enjoyed this.
Hier etwas brennend. 6 Monate in Eichenfässern gelagert.
Vollmundig aromatisch, im Abgang wird die Hefikeit süßlich, er ist aber weitestgehend vom Malz geprägt, zu dem eine leicht herbe Note stößt. Gelungen! 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Shared by Chuck. Pours to a lightly hazy amber body with a medium fizzy off-white head. The aroma is sweet Belgian yeasts with subtle bananas, oak, spices, and light tobacco. Fairly complex. The flavor is sweet bananas and a nice spicy alcohol. Cloves and light white pepper. Nice oak, but that’s subtle. Very complex flavors. The palate is sweet and surprisingly has no alcohol.
