Commercial Description:
Deep to orange blond abbey triple winterbeer which has been lagered for 8 months on different stonefruits. Tsjeeses was born out of a 5 year brew experience regarding x-mas beer without being capable of finding a suitable name up to now. With the name came a face, a caricature actually, that was drawn on the day Urbain, our brew master and master brewer, drank too many Tsjeeses's. Every time he drinks one, he says "Tsjeeses, what a beer". Therefore the name is more an expression of stupefaction than a curse. We have had already many discussions around the pronounciation of "Tsjeeses". Very close would be that you say "cheeses" or cheese in plural.

11.2 fl oz. Amber-orange color with a fine white head and lots of suspended particles. Really a fantastic and complex aroma - peach, apricot, orange rind, sourdough, yellow cake, and an herbal, almost minty, note. Flavor is less interesting but still very good. Doughy with a subdued and under-ripe stone fruit flavor. Quite spicy in the beginning and the end, with sweet vanilla in the middle. Big bubbles. Really close to being unbelievable.

Bottle into chalice. Pours a cloudy orange-gold, lighter towards the top, with loads of floaties, and a creamy bone-white cap that leaves substantial lacing. The floaties were disconcerting, but the beer otherwise looks fantastic. Nose is apricot and tropical fruit mixed with a rich, lightly doughy yeast note, spicy alcohol, bit of candy sugar shining through. Delicious. Taste is yeasty, bittersweet, rich tropical fruit and apricot, sweet candy sugar and some spicy alcohol. Honey, and maybe nutmeg? Dry at some points, deliciously rich in others. Finish is yeasty, a bit bittersweet, bit of alcohol on the exhale. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky, soft, fluffy carbonation. Drinkability is fantastic. When I finished this, I was left wondering why I hadn’t bought more than one. I actually realized I was drinking it so fast that if i didn’t get to reviewing, I’d run out of beer before I finished. An exemplary beer. Delicious.

12oz bottle on sale for $7, Jesus is smoking...It smells spicy and herbal sort of like a fantome. Its got a dark orange color and yeasties floating throughout despite a sincere attempt at a careful pour. Tastes like I don’t know what, good but spicy and mysterious (again reminds me of a fantome). Bottle. Pours a light orange/amber color with a small off-white with a large number of floaties. Aroma of fruit, candi sugar, spicy yeast, honey, and spices. Flavor is sweet and fruity and slightly bitter with honey, candi sugar, orange zest and mild spices with a medium body and a fairly dry finish.

20090316 11.2 oz bottle from State Line. Dirty golden orange color, full of gunk despite having sat in the fridge for a month or so and trying to pour carefully off the sediment. Small but lasting white head. Aroma is spicy and wintry with apricot, clove, honey, ginger aside from the usual Belgian yeastiness. Doughy, sweet, and unctuous at first, but mellowing out to a more spice oriented brew with an increasingly effervescent body. Some barny, muddy flavors, biting clove, bubblegum, teaberry, marzipan. Interesting beer that paired well with my dinner of roast pork with applesauce and potatoes.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Darkish pour with a touch of marshmallow head. Kind of fishy, waxy aroma. Tough to define flavor, has a weird ginger bread and citrusy wax quality. Very sweet, but unlike Pannepot it isn’t really doing it for me.

33cl bottle, with thanks to ygtbsm94 for the nice bonus. Pours a cloudy apricot juice color with a medium tan head. Aroma is cookie dough, spices, and candied fruits. Flavor is similar with a variety of fresh and candied fruits and belgian yeast. There’s sure a lot going on here, just not sure all of it worked for my palate. Thanks again Brad!
