thin finger of fizzy white head. A tantalizing fruit bouquet erupts from the glass, dripping with hints of
pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, and cherry licorice. A light sourness and floral/fruity ester characters add
further complexity. Subtle marshmellow/vanilla maltiness backs. Medium light bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel
with a moderate acidity. Slighty acetic, not overwhelming, but more like a mild pear cider garnished with a
squeeze of lemon. The palate actually falls off a bit more quickly than expected; the flavors don’t seem to show
nearly the complexity of the nose, instead finishing with a mildly acidic, apple rind cider smack. Hints of musty
cheese character on the backend. Solid beer, and certainly shows potential to improve with time, especially if
the pedio can intensify the lactic aspects and add further complexity and length to the finish.

The aroma suggests sour apples and some Belgian yeast. The taste is really tart; sour, really sour with a acidic and zesty mouthfeel. There is also a strong Belgian Ale aspect; some yeast and sweet malts. Quite nice, and unexpected. Unusual for sure. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
