Golden coloured and malty. Some dryness in a lasting finish. SilkTork (3941), Rochester, Kent, England Oct 21, 2005 Crown & Thistle, Gravesend. Indifferent condition, edging into poor. In this condition the beer comes over as a citric fresh session bitter but it is struggling to perform. This used to be a great pub for beer quality, but hasn’t been any good for some time. Default score. Hildigöltur (5056), København Ø, Denmark Jun 30, 2004 [Cask conditioned] Amber coloured. A very strange bitter. Slightly sour and dusty. Notes of cobwebs. duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jun 28, 2004 Cask@The Market Porter, London. Nothing special here, malty/bready/grainy. Citric hops. Cask character, a bit boring, but OK. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Feb 13, 2004 Named after a Grand National winning horse that was trained in Malton. There is a rather disarming sweaty sock accent in the aroma, but, thankfully, that doesn't carry through onto the palate. Otherwise this is a decent but dull session bitter, with plenty of bite but no noticeable malt. Pale amber colour. Cask (gravity), Battersea Beer festival.
