On tap at the brewery. Black with a lasting tan head. Tart cocoa aroma. The flavor is bitter roast, with a little cocoa. Smooth and clean overall. Medium-light bodied with medium carbonation and a smooth texture. A nicely done dry stout.

Pours black with brown in the thin areas. Notes of sesame, nuts and unsweetened chocolate. One of the better Dry Stouts I’ve had.

A very dark, dry stout. It didn’t have the most flavor of other stouts I’ve had, but Sudwerk always has a great brew on tap.

Dark brown with curiously light tan head. Papery, earthy anise aroma, some coffee. Mild, lightly earthily malty flavor with plenty of roastiness, but not overwhelming. Well-melded dry stout.

On tap at the Sudwerks brewery. A dark bear, almost black. Small lightly tanned head. Moderate beer with a slightly nutty taste. Overall an little better than average beer.

On tap at the brewpub in late June 2007. 0.3 L sample. Roasted, toasted, mildly metallic and hoppy aroma present. Lightly peppery and a bit of smokiness is in there, too. An interesting enough aroma. Moderately opaque dark brown-mahogany colored body with a frothy light tan head and nice lacing present. Starts a bit grainy and cereal-like. Lightly roasted, choco, and burnt flavors are present in the middle. Becomes quite hoppy with plenty of "C" hops in the finish. Kind of thin-bodied and overly hoppy. Just seems kind of lacking. I think this is too hoppy to fit the "Dry Stout" classification.
