On tap at Schooner’s, this was a real surprise. Pours hazy golden with an off white head. Nose was a touch of citrus and yeast. The flavor is smooth and lightly sweet bready malt and some honey. Bready sweet finish, but not too sweet. Smooth on the palate.

Hazy golden yellow, refreshing, citrus, yeasty, bready, spice, malty, little honey, dry.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy light golden-yellow, with a moderate-sized white head. Aroma is yeast, banana, hint of bubble-gum, and clove---basically what you expect, though moderate on the banana and bubble-gum, only slightly sweet, and heavier on the yeast. Flavor is yeast, banana, grain, a bit of cloves, and some metallic hops maybe, with a little more spice and yeast at the end. Interesting combination of semi-sweet with a bit of bitterness, and enjoyable.

On tap at the brewery. Typically hazy yellow-amber, it was served with a wedge of lemon on the rim of the mug, and despite this managed some foam retention. What can I say about the aroma, it smelled like a German hefeweizen. Nothing out of the ordinary, but that is the selling point. The same with the flavor: yeast, banana, bubble-gum, and spice all balanced around a crisp and clean tartness. Creamy texture with crisp carbonation. Sudwerk does a great hef, rivaling just about any imports that you can find in the area. Nothing mind-blowing, but I appreciate the authenticity. I’m not always in the mood for the style, but on a hundred degree summer day in Davis, this hit the spot.

One of the best beers I’ve ever had. I can’t say enough good things about it and every time I drink it, I’m reminded of how good it really is. It has the perfect amount of carbonation and goes down smooth. I love the banana/citrus aroma and taste.

350 ml bottle from Bevmo. Hazy orange with a fizzy head. Faint malty citrus aroma and taste without much else going on.

From tap, pours out a cloudy light blonde with a foamy white top that had faded before arriving at the table. Nice aroma of sweet banana and citrus. The taste follows suit with banana, clove and citrus. On the tongue, the beer hits with a bit of spiciness from the high carbonation and finishes smooth with a slight bitterness. The is a nice refreshing weizen. I would order it anytime.

On tap, part of the 10 beer sampler. Pours a yellow color and granished with a slice of lemon. Tastes of citrus and honey.
