timfoolery (361), California, USA Jun 12, 2008 On tap at Sudwerk in early June 08. This is a sweeter, thicker version of the Dry Stout. It’s a very good brew with a burger. DYCSoccer17 (2040), Davis, California, USA Mar 20, 2007 On tap at the brewpub in early March 2007. 16 ounce sample. Lightly metallic, roasty, choco-anise nose. Nice roasty notes present with some vanilla present, too. Nice and aromatic. Moderately opaque mahogany body with a smallish light tan head and fair lacing present. Lightly chocolatey sweet malty start, which becomes a bit vanilla-like flavorwise. Some roasty maltiness with a bit of anise flavor is apparent later on with some more burnt malts and a light hoppiness. A pretty solid, yet unspectacular stout.
