Pours a cloudy and thick espresso brown with copper amber red notes in the light. Aroma is nuts, coffee and dark roasted malts. Flavor is nut and coffee. Very earthy/woodsy notes. Palate is light with light carbonation.

Beer engine draft at Blue Nile MPLS. Pours a deep black. Massive foamy head, looks like a standard Guinness pour. Flavor is smooth roasted malt, a bit of chocolate, molasses, some black licorice. Smooth and creamy on the palate. Medium to light body. Not much carbonation, even though the head was massive when poured. As the bartender said ’’The Summit GNP isn’t cooperating.’’ Flavor is awesome, definitely better than the regular version. Palate leaves much to be desired. Maybe due to un-cooperative beer engine. Still good stuff.

On draught during ABR ’08 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy and thick off-white head that slowly dissipates to a white ring. Aroma of roasted dark malt with a semi-sweet molasses that is well balanced with their regular established Great Northern Porter. Taste is medium to full bodied, little carbonation with flavors of roasted dark malt, some chocolate and molasses flavors. Finish has a semi-dry and mild bitterness with an aftertaste that has both dark malt and molasses flavors.

Autumn Brew Review 2008. Black color with a medium head. Light sugary aroma. Very dry malt flavor. Heavy on the roasted malt, especially for a porter. The molasses comes out, but not screaming. I guess I had my hopes up for something a little different, but this is still pretty nice.
