Commercial Description:
Summit Extra Pale Ale is not a beer brewed only for beer snobs. Just the opposite. It’s a beer for everyone to enjoy: construction workers, stock brokers, farmers, sales people, clerks, teachers, lawyers, doctors, even other brewers. Its light bronze color and distinctly hoppy flavor have made it a favorite in St. Paul, Minneapolis and the rest of the Upper Midwest ever since we first brewed it back in 1986.

OBF 2008. Pours gold with a smooth white head. Citrus hops up front in the nose, crisp and medium dry finish. Body was a bit thin, but this still wasn’t a bad, nice balance to it, good hopped up pale.

Pours a nice golden color with very thin head. Distinct, bitter taste of hops, but quite drinkable. A pretty good pale ale.

Typical APA regardless of "Extra" being thrown into the name. Very light in hops for a pale, and ends little watery. Overall I would give this an OK rating.

Poured a golden orange color. Aroma was quite hoppy, but almost kind of skunky. Tasted hoppy and bitter. Decent overall beer, typical pale ale.

Good beer, bottle at a restaurant with a walleye meal. Aroma of hops, pine and citrus. Golden bronze in color with no head. Flavors of pine, citrus and a small amount of hops. Smooth with a slightly dry finish. A refreshing beer. So I had this on tap and it is sooooo much better on tap. Awesome hoppy aroma and flavor, nice white fluffy head, and good bitterness.

I have bought this beer on 2 occasions. The 1st time i thought the beer was quite bad as it had a skunkish quality to it. The 2nd time it wasn’t as skunky but still left a taste that i would in no way qualify as a pale ale. While the flavor and aroma are awesome, it leaves a very unsatisfactory lingerings bitterness on the palate. Perhaps, as others have noted it is better on tap, or maybe it is getting skunked here in Michigan, in any case the 72nd percentile seems very generous.
